BCBS Federal PPO (Louisiana) Standard

Did anyone have trouble getting approval with this insurance carrier? I am so worried about getting an approval!!! :help

Hey, I don't want to bring bad news but I personally don't know of anyone that had Blue Cross of La. that was able to get the surgery. Have you called them to see if the surgery is even covered on your policy? I'd do that tomorrow. I had Blue Cross for four years and it was an exclusion on my policy and I appealed over and over and over and it never helped. I hope your hear something good soon! Christie

Well I definitly know that they cover the procedure I was just wandering if anyone had any info about how they were with approving a patient.

I know there are some Bluecross policies that do cover WLS. I could be very wrong but I was told that Bluecross Fed does cover it. The best thing for you to do is call your and check your benefits. Jodi

I have Anthem Blue Cross and it took forever to get everything together but they do cover it. You need 3 comorbidities and over 100 pounds to lose. I had diabetes, hypertension and sleep apnea. They also require a psychological evaluation to make sure you're a good candidate for the surgery. It's a long process but well worth it. Anne

Hi, we have BCBS Federal and I did not have any problems at all, they approved on the first try. That was over 16 months ago and I am 15months out and feeling GREAT.
