Barf virgin ,,, NO MORE
OK well its official,, I AM NO LONGER A BARF VIRGIN, and ohhhhhhhh how I wanted to stay one all throughout my surgery!!! I really don't mind barfing which sounds crazie ,, but like my sister who needs to be hospitalized if she throws up,, I am fine with it ,whatever makes me feel better,,, Well yesterday for liz's bday I started to make spagetti around 4:30 and heated up about 6oz of chx gumbo broth,, and drank that while cooking,, then when I finished cooking around 5:30,, I made her spagetti, texas cheese toast, and a salad,, < ohhh It looked soo good> Then around 7pm I was hungry again or so my head was hungry ,, so I heated up some Cream of potato with milk, and ate just the broth from it,, it was about 6oz,,, Well immed after eating that I was like OH NOOOOOOO ,, and I ran to the bathroom and ,, it was sooooo sweet liz came running and was wipping my head and neck with a wet towl,, I was soo upset and said I am soo sorry I did this on your birthday,, She was understanding as can be.. I felt alot better afterwards,,,, so then of course I don't go to bed until like 3am,, so at like 1am I was hungry So I ate a fudgesicle and then about 20 mins later was thirsty so made some hot choc,, I drank 3 sips of that and I couldnt even keep that down,, thankfully liz was asleep and didnt see me,, but I was like damn,,, MY HONEYMOON STAGE IS OFFICIALLY OVER, I am up this morning or to alot of people evening and I can't even drink more than 3oz at a time,, WHICH I AM GLAD, I was really starting to wonder if I really only had a 1oz pouch ,, I was worrying that for some reason this surgery didnt work for me !!! but obviously like some of yall said there was a honeymoon stage,, and I'm excited its over,, but now the hard part starts where I have to figure out how much I can handle ,, and when my head is sooo hungry and my tummy definitly isn't ,,,, thanks everyone!!!
sorry you are barfing, but trust me you will learn soon when to put stuff down, I have eaten one more bite, (soon to find out that was to much) , i have never thrown up, but been very nauseated before, and chest discomfort... the spagetti sounds good, i havn't ate much since my gallbladder surgery on sunday,, trying to take it slow, good luck! rhonda
Yea thanks rhonda,, you are always sooooooooooo supportive , You are amazing!!! You and tina both,, and of course everyone else!!! I am soo used to shoving in that last bite and laying down wanting to barf,, I got soo used to it,, I can't stand to see any left in my bowl but I am definitly getting used to that,, I have soooooo many 2oz tupperwear containers in my fridge my sister asked what the hell's going on!!! I used to HATE spaetti but ever since surgery I have craved it , and I don't think you can have it after can you? I wonder when I can have spagetti, pickles, olives and rice a roni,,, but I don't think I can ever have the carb products again,,, I am a huge pickle freak and have been drinking the juice ,, my juice is low and I want those pickles soo bad!!!!!!!!!
I have spaghetti, rice, potatoes, pickles and olives. I was a pickle freak before, but not so much now.
It's all how you tolerate it.
To be honest I'm concerned that your hungry. I rarely have hunger pains now. I also throw up on occasion and it's from not learning when enough is enough. I'm doing better.
Ashleigh,
Do you measure your food? I feel this is a must. I have all my food measured out and if I feel the least bit full I stop. I have been very lucky not to have gotten sick (yet)...I also have certain times that I eat. Morning, noon and evening with two snacks in between which is my protein drinks. I sometimes will have a protein drink at night. In between is my water or fluids. I and my doctor feel it is very important to have a schedule. I have yet to feel an hunger, as a matter of fact sometimes I don't even feel I can eat at my certain times. I do take a bit or two if and when this happens.
See if you can do a schedule it really does work.
Take care,
Jodi
Oh by the way I am 12 weeks out as of this past Monday and I can now add 1/4-1/2 cup of pasta. Be very careful with the sauce it can be high in sugar.
I've found that throwing up after surgery is not so bad. You don't have all that stomach acid burning your mouth and throat. The first time I did it I told my hubby if it was this easy to throw up before surgery I would have been bulimic. I hated to throw up would avoid it at all cost and now it doesn't bother me so much. I still don't like it but can live with it. But I've learned my limits and you will too. Just remember don't take that extra bite it will do it every time. Hope today is better for you. Honeymoon is over!
Tina
I am thinking that it is WAY too early for your "honeymoon" to be over. I'm concerned that you might have a stricture or something and suggest that you call your surgeon right away. Especially, if the barfing continues beyond a day or so. The "honeymoon" phase should actually last for 6-10 months where no matter what you eat, you still lose weight. After that time, you actually have to start exercising some restraint, because your appetite increases and you've pretty much learned what you can and cannot eat. It becomes easier to "overeat" things that actually do sit well with you.
I'm not trying to scare you, but please be cautious. Barfing is NOT necessarily a good sign this early on!! Actually barfing is NEVER a really good sign as I've heard that it can stretch your pouch!!! That's what my doctor told me!
I still barf about once every two weeks or so, but just because I didn't chew well or ate one bite too much!!
Post again soon and let us know how you are doing. We all care about you!! Hugz Pam
Sis, after you have up enough, you'll learn to STOP! LOL
I am now 32 months out and still to this day I cannot eat the boiled spaghetti. I can have noodles like the elbow or shells, just not the string spaghetti. Weird huh?
I'll keep you in my thoughts and prayers!
Love Ya and keep up the good success,
Dee
