Kind of P#$%#
Hey Ash.....I don't understand why you've had so many problems with them. I had surgery on Monday, called on Thursday and my appt was Tuesday. Also, I called this past friday for an appt today but they were booked so it's for thursday. When I called friday she (person that answered) said if i would have waited to make the appt yesterday I wouldn't have been seen till next week.
For the past four years I've worked for a surgeons office and like Jodi said they do have a reserved column for emergencies but it has to be approved by the nurse. And the doctors don't know when a patient has a problem until the chart is in front of them. The on call doc was that at his office? Because he won't know until he see's your chart. The on call doc won't let dr o know that someone called with an infection. It's not Dr. O's fault at all! Schedulers/Receptionist don't really understand the important of post op and etc. Anytime you have a problem, ask for the nurse, that is anywhere you'd call. Usually you'd have to leave a message b/c nurses are in clinic and usually have certain times they do call backs to patients. Also, I would start getting names when I call if your having those kinds of problems and ask to speak with an office manager, but they will need a name of the person that made the appt.
At the surgeons office where I worked days could be filled up over a week in advance with appts. And since the word has really gotten out about him taking Medicaid, he has more business now than ever! Also with not all of the New Orleans doctors working, it's caused him to have more patients. Also he has been on vacation. I guess I just look at all of this different since I worked in a surgeons office for four years and know how it goes.
But anyway, bottom line is I've been dealing with Dr. O's office since November and have not had one problem or do not have one complaint about it!
I don't think he is unproffessional at all. And like I said, get names of who you speak with, because I wouldn't say it's the whole office. Ask to speak with the office manager and see if they can find out why you are having problems with them. I know when I'd help at the reception area sometimes or if I had a call for an appt and if the patient would get hyper in some way, that never really helped with getting anything done.
Also the office manager can tell who made your appt and when it was made, so that may help a bit if you don't know who you spoke with.
Good Luck,
Christie
