ok the doctor asked me when I was leaving the hospital to call the following monday and make a apt for the following tues or thrus, Well I did call that monday and OF COURSE HE HAS NOTHING OPEN to freakin the 14th,, which pis#%# me right off,, I mean I just had a major surgery, don't you think he would like save those 2 days for people who had their surgery that previous week, I mean one I have a infection already and had to go see a ER on call doctor and he doesn't even know about my infection, but now I have to wait a whole nother week when I have questions, concerns ,and feelings that I need to talk to him about,, I mean do most doctors do freakin major surgeries and leave their patients for 3-4 weeks, I could be dead by then b/c of a complication. It just p.o. me and I am sorry for complaining but I thought if I can't do it here ,where can I ?

Hey Ash, Have you talked to your doctor or his staff about your infection and your questions? They should be available to answer questions and let you know if you need to seek immediate medical help. Of course, that being said, I had my surgery Aug. 9 and my follow-up appt. was the day before Katrina (had surgery in New Orleans but live 3 hours away) so with the whole city gone it was a couple months before I saw my bariatric surgeon. But under normal cir****tances (non-city-destroying hurricane) you should be able to reach your doctor or his staff with concerns. I was lucky b/c I'd been through my husband's gastric bypass which was an open incision like mine and knew what to do. You should definitely call and let your surgeon know you have an infection and whatever else you need to know. Feel free to ask any questions here or vent b/c we've all been there. I remember when I was on liquids -- not a happy camper!!! Anne 254/175/1??

Ashleigh, I am sorry you are having problems.... I wish i could be of some sorta help but i am pre op and still waiting for approval. I am hoping to get ryn with them.... I do know that Dr. Ordyne went out of town during Mardi Gras. I am not feeling too confident about his office leaving you with an infection. Did you ask if someone else in the practice could see you? Isn't there another doctor that works with him? his associates or something?? I hope you are okay!! hugs-- tracey

THANKS YALL, YES Dr. Ordoyne knows I have a infection, or at least his office does,, I did a emergency page to him on mardi gras when my incision was nasty and leaking alot,, A on call doctor called me back and I went and saw him,, So I really have No Idea if Dr. O himself knows,, and HIS OFFICE STAFF ARE THE WORST STAFF ,, me and my mom were like gee wiz you would think people working in a office on this subject would be extra supportive but they are horrible,, the only reason I used him is b/c of insurance , Now I don't disagree with his skills , I wouldn't of used him if I did, but he definitly does not handle things the way I think and have seen anyone professionally EVER handle anything,, His office staff are like talking to a wall and sooooooooooo uncaring , so if anyone is planning on getting their suurgery from him, He's a great surgeron , but be prepared to bite your tongue when dealing with his staff,,,

hi ashleigh, try to speak to his nurse, or if he has a physcian assistance, let them know that the Dr. insisted on seeing you in one to two days due to the infection. i wouldn't wait till the 14th. Just try to remain professional when speaking to the staff, even though they probably don't, good luck! rhonda

Ash sorry your surgeon's and his staff are acting this way. NO it is not normal for a surgeon to act this way. My surgeon saw me in within five days of surgery and then again in two weeks then again in two weeks. Also him and her because two of them did the surgery, gave me their personal cell phone numbers to call if I had any questions or concerns. Dr. Martin even called me at home for two days after surgery to check on me and see if I was alright. I know not all surgeon's do this, but they should at least be accessible if you have questions. I've heard other people talk about him and I don't think I would like him or his staff very much. Does he not have a office manager you could complain to about this? At least they could say something to the office people about their behavior. Hope it all comes together for you. Tina

Call back and ask to talk to the NURSE. Doctor's leave "block time" open in their schedule for emergencies and special situations but the nurse has to approve the appointment. You should NOT wait b/c you have an infection! Best, Vanessa

I can understand why you are so angry. I too would call back and demand to talk to a nurse. It's their job and they vowed to care for you! Keep us updated and I hope your infection heals soon. Take care and I will check on you soon, dee

Ashley I called the day I left the hospital and I had an appointment with him. I have had zero problems with him or his office staff. Every timeI had a concern (and in the beginning I had numerous ones that were ridiculous and they were very patient) they put me straight through to a nurse. I'm really sorry you are having these problems. Did you actually call the day you left the hospital or did you just assume they'd make the appointment and you would go? I don't want this office getting a really bad rep on here because most people, that I know, who have used them have had zero problems. They are not disorganized in any way and they are very nice people. I just feel bad you are having so many issues with them. Maybe Christie has a different perspective than I do and she can understand what you are saying. Good luck Diane

No diane, His office doesn't like me from the begining b/c I had all my paperwork and labs etc, from having dr. scott in new orleans and when I went to the seminor I personally talked to Dr. O and he said everything would be fine ,he could do it ,yada yada,, then when I saw him that following week he reviewed my paperwork with me there next to him and said he would personally dictate a letter that night at home , b/c he knew I was in school and had to get it done on a certain date and was more than willing to work with me b/c my moms a nurse and knows all the doctors he works with and he knows alot of people I work with , being a emt,, so I was thrilled ,, well he did dictate the letter and put it on rhonda's desk and I called the following morning and she said she would put it through, which me and Dr. o had talked about well she didn't put it through til about a week and a half later when I had to call and complain b/c medicaid had no records of it and it took her 4 days of me calling leaving messages to call me back,, she knew what she had done and I am sure dr. O said something to her b/c he personally was trying to help me. So the whole office I am sure were talking crap about me , which me and my mom didn't give a crap about ,, as a adult I bit my tongue and know how to act when I need to use someone, or in this case someone's , .. So when I called back rhonda was off for something and whoever answered said she couldnt help me , and I asked to speak to the office manager, I AM A TAKE NO SH@$ KIND OF PERSON AND I WASN'T LETTING THIS SIT, the office manager was just as rude and I told her , when I ran my own business no one who worked for me or myself would ever be able to act like she or her staff had, which is the truth ,,, Then when I went in to see the ER doctor about my incision me and my mom heard them talking crap about me , like thats the girl who keeps fussing about everything,, they made me wait in the room for an hour and a half,, when no one was there, and working in a er once before I know the doctors and staff do that on purpose to people who **** them off,, So I was PISSED, when we walked out I checked to see if he happen to have any cancelations and she laughed and said nope sorry, I made my appt the following monday when I left on friday from the hospital just like he said,, I personally think he should save the first half of the day for patients he did surgery on the previous week, but I guess this is the kind of care you get when you have sh@$y insurance,, Tina, Dr. Martin was someone I wanted to go with but since he switched to vista I know they wouldnt take my insurance any longer,, What you are saying he did , seems really nice , and what all doctors should do after a freakin major surgery like this,, I don't even have a number for him other than his office number where you can page someone other than him,,, HIS OFFICE STAFF KNEW I HAD/HAVE A INFECTION AND I SAID "THERES NO WAY HE CAN SEE ME SOONER AND THEY WERE LIKE , NOPE HE'S BOOKED" while they chewed gum,,, Awwwwwwwwwww I need to go take my meds now before I get really p.o'd!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I have never seen a company soo unprofessional and disrespectful,, I mean when you have a surgery like this you would think people would be understanding. thanks everyone for lending me support and being kind,, I am only going to follow up with him as long as I have to and until I can find a Doctor who will take over and is actually concerned about his patients. ME AND MY MOTHER BOTH HEARD ALOT OF RUDE COMMENTS ABOUT RHONDA AND HIS STAFF BEFORE BUT THOUGHT EVERYONE'S DIFFERENT ,, OBVIOUSLY NOT.
