Good Morning Everyone, I hope you all had a wonderful weekend and have a great week ahead of you. I had several WOW moments this week, too many to count in fact. So, I will sum it up, my Grandfather's funeral was Friday and I saw several friends and family members from Wednesday to Friday and so many of them told me they almost didn't recognize me or knew I looked familiar but, it took them a moment to place me. Some people even told me I didn't need to lose anymore weight...who woulda ever thunk!?! It's time to come out wherever you are and fess up! What were your WOW moment(s) this week? Have a great week everyone. Gina

ME!! ME!! Lotsa wow moments... some good, some not! 1st wow... remember I fell about a week before your birthday?? well I was too stubborn to get the damn ankle XRay'd and yesterday I was at work... heard the code alarm go off... someone was found dead... so I took off running to go help with CPR and such... ran faster than I ever thought I could... it felt GREAT for about 30 seconds... till I realized my feet were no longer under my shoulders!! I took a diving skid down the hallway and landed on all fours.... kinda sore, but didn't hurt bad... figured ok well I was at work when it happened, so I better go ahead and get xrays... dunno why I didn't do it when I fell at home, but anyway... so they tell me YAY no breaks from my fall at work... but I have an old break to my right knee (I knew about that) and theres an old break to my left ankle (WOW!!) I didn't know about that one!! They couldn't see HOW OLD, but it's there...figures huh? 2nd wow... some of you might have heard me saying how my surgeon (Dr. Richardson) was soooo great but his partner had a much higher complication rate... his (original surgery) patients never come back with complications... not 1 in the 9 months I have been there... and how I was concerned about her being new to this kind of surgery.... now I haven't seen her patients coming back since surgery... well here's the thing... to go to mexico and get my Lap RNY will be about $15K, to get it with my current surgeon will be $22K. I was chatting with his partner (she's got a fabulous personality) and we were discussing the state of bariatric surgery in New Orleans (another WHOLE POST, so I'll save it)... so I jokingly tell her "wish I could get my gallbladder out, since I do have stones (lap choley is covered under insurance) and just pay the surgeon's difference for RNY.... and she says... "Oh, I did that for someone last week, total surgery cost ended up about 6,000" I was like WOW!!! SO, I am really considering accepting her offer... I know her skill is not as fantabulous as her partner... but then again, he won't do that (said "no, that's risking insurance company issues" when I asked him to). So I am seriously considering using her as my surgeon, even though I know she's still kinda new... I know what meds to avoid and I have a great rapport with her (she knows me and comes to chat with me every time I see her)... so I dunno... I would have not used her had I had the option to get my surgery under insurance.... but my choices are down to her... or mexico... and at least with her I know I get good postop and follow up care... and I could have it fairly soon (see other post about Bariatric New Orleans) and I know the hospital (my unit). SO my wow was that I may not have to do full cash pay, and I don't have to wait to get another job!! 3rd wow... about 10 people at work came up to me yesterday and were all excited to see me... even docs I had to call on the phone, recognized me and I was SO shocked! I knew the student docs cuz I deal with them lots, and I knew a few specific specialty docs (surgeons, etc)... but it was sooo nice to have so many people recognize me and tell me they miss me.

Kat great wow moments, this will work for you just like it is suppose to. Just have faith. You will be fine. Gina...Great moment for you too that people hadnt seen you. I have a couple wow moments too as of last night I got into almost all my old clothes from when I was married 3 1/2 yrs ago. I have two pairs of jeans I couldnt get on but all the other clothes I got on. So from a 22 to a 16 in 4 1/2 months not bad. Then today went to dentist to have teeth clean and hadnt been in 6 months and she was dumbfounded on how I looked. I have seen her for over 18 yrs and she has seen me go up and down in weight over the years as she has. But made me feel good that she noticed right away. Denise
