Stopped Losing
Hello everyone,
I don't post alot but I do read the message board each day. I had a stricture that had to be reopened about two weeks ago, I am feeling SOOOO much better, but since then I have not lost another pound and I want to eat all the time. Has anyone else experinced this ? I am so lazy about my excersing and I know I must start back on that right away, I have only lost on 45lbs since 11/16, I just hope this is not the end.
Sabrina I am a revision of dr shamblins too and i have only lost this time around 48 since october 13th, we lose so much slower then a person that is not a revision. I cant seem to exercise like i should either.
do you like to walk? you live in keithville and i live in stonewall maybe we could meet and walk together. I just started a clogging dance too at spar. a little exercise.
are you doing any protein? i just started about 2 weeks ago and its really coming off now, jump started it. if you wanna talk sometime let me know and i will give you my numbers.

Hi Sabrina,
I'm not an RNY or revision, but I wanted to toss in another factor. Many people stall or gain immediately following surgery. The body reacts to the "reopenning" as an invasion and there can be swelling and retention. If you had an IV, that can be another source of weight gain -- it's fluid.
I had surgery a few weeks ago and in the first two weeks, I gained 10 pounds. In the next two weeks, I lost them and some more.
The shock of surgeries, even one more minor than the first, can do whacky things to the body.
I hope you can continue healing and feeling well until your body straightens this out. This is not the end.
Onward!
Frances
Thanks for your response. I have not been doing the protien, I just gag on it. I have spent $$$$$ on different kinds of drinks. I finally had to get a childs sippy cup to drink them with so I cannot smell them. I am going to drink another one today and see if I can get one down. The last one I had was a the day before I had the stricture reopened and I got so sick after drinking one. Do any of you get the Newsletter from the Chrsitus Schumpert Bariatric Health Center and have you been to any of the support meeting there. Is that where Dr. Merriman's office is located ? Just wondering. Denise I would like to walk some time. I live over by the golf course off Keith road. I walk my neighbor hood alot, I also have a mini home gym here, I just need to get motivated and stay that way, I need that can do attitude. Thanks for listening.
Sabrina.
Hi Sabrina,
I wanted to add that many wls postops don't use protein drinks and still get the needed protein in, including RNYs and revisions. I drink a lot of milk and sf hot chocolate made with milk. Do you like milk?
There's also a few "unflavored" powders that can be put in soup and warm liquids.
When I do use a protein powder, I mix it with milk and add instant coffee to make a ice coffee type drink. Coffee takes the edge off that taste.
I was not able to drink the clear liquids protein drinks right after surgery because of an allergy. That's when I discovered that I could get my protein in with dairy products and plant protein (beans, nuts, whole grains).
I wish you well,
Frances
Hi Diane,
This response came to me because I was the last on the list. I sent it by email to Sabrina.
I'm so glad to hear that you are putting real food in your recovery and meal plans. Sounds like you are well on your way to an awesome victory. The first few months have been extremely fast in the losing rate. It may be slowing down to just "good losing" now. At this rate, you will be down 100 pounds in less than six months. I think your body will do what's best as far as losing because you are definitely doing your part.
Congrats!
Frances
