Getting Nervous???
I have researched the surgery I'm having, learned all it's pros and cons. I made a very thought out decision to proceed with it. I meet all the requirements, saw all the pertinent doctors, and followed all directions completely. I "passed" all my tests and was approved for the my surgery. Yippee, I cried!!! NOW, my surgery is next Wednesday (which also happens to be my14th anniversary), and suddenly I am anxious and scared silly. Has this happened to anyone else? How did you get over it? And is it normal? Thanks for any advice!!!
It is normal!!! I think just about any surgery you get those feeling, except if you are in massive pain then you just want to get it over with.
I just want to tell you to stay positive it will help you so much. I had such a wonderful experience with everything. I am so glad I had the surgery.
I pray (hope you don't mind) that you have a safe and speedy recovery. Just stay positive and follow your doctors orders. Remember to walk that is so very important.
Take care,
Jodi
K.R.,
I completly understand what you mean, I haven't got approved yet , I'm still waiting and hope it will be by the end of this week. But I understand what you mean,, I don't know how in the world I am going to act if I actually get approved , for so long I have been used to fighting so hard, when and if I actually get approved I won't know what to do, it will be like omg I actually got it , my dream has come true. And then if I get denied I will be upset and not know what to do,, but I think everyone would be nervous about something as huge as this, if you are a religious or spirtual person I would suggest praying , if not find friends family or activities that can help you stay calm and keep your mind of the anxiety you are having. Best of luck and keep us updated!!
LOL, I've been on bended knees alot over this surgery and I feel it is a good choice. I have two beautiful daughters and I want to see them grow up and become wonderful young ladies. Thank you all for your kind words. I have not really ever had any operation or anything, so this is all new. I look forward to my back not hurting and being able to swing my 16 month old around and around like she loves my husband to do. I know the other side is going to be worth the battle to get to.....but still, those nerves. I'm a 'what if' person by nature....just trying to calm that chatter. Thanks again!!!
I don't blame you. I got nervous when the doctor's office called to tell me that a few pre-surgery tests were scheduled! I emailed you (hope you don't mind). I'm here at Polk too. It'll be nice to have someone so close to see what you go through, how we can help each other, etc.
Good luck!! Is your hubby taking time off for this?
I'm almost two weeks post op and would do it again today if I had too! I had the RNY, which are you having? As of today I've lost 18 pounds. I'm not gonna lie...the fluids, it's a lot. 64 ounces may not seem like a lot, but it is! Just have to stay focused and get them in.
I was nevery nervous or scared about my surgery, just so anxious the whole time. Even on the way into the OR I still wasn't scared. Now my family, they were on pins and needles!!!
My surgery was on last monday and i was home last wednesday. As everyone will tell you, get up and move move move!!! It really does help the soreness go away faster!
I wish you a speedy and healthy recovery!
Welcome to the losing side!

Hi Christie,
I'm having an open RNY and sort of worried about the pain afterwards, but that's not on the top of my list. My husband is super supportive
but my mom is sooooo nervous. Both my dad and my brother have passed away over the past two years...so, I'm sort of it.
She supports my decision, but man, she is soooo nervous....so maybe I'm just getting "side vibes" off of her.
I understand her concern, but I also understand that I'm going to be in the grave a lot earlier than I'd like if I don't remedy my current situation. LOL, I'm also planning on "move move moving" a whole LOT. My surgery is Feb 15 and there is a huge Mardi Gras Parade that passes in front of mom's house on Feb 25 in Baton Rouge....it's a tradition and I WILL BE THERE!!! Thanks for the support!
