Hey everyone...... I can't beleive my surgery was Monday. As of today, I'm really not feeling like I even had surgery! Which is a good thing as far as pain goes! I'm still a little sore and having a tad bit of back pain, but also on Wednesday when I came home my cycle started and I think that is contributing to some back pain and swelling. I'm glad to say that I've had no nausea or vomitting. I'm tolerating my liquids and my 90 grams of protein daily! I'm only getting in average of 40 ounces of fluid in right now. It's hard to drink when you always feel so darn full!!! My incisions are doing good. I'm sleeping okay at night, but I toss and turn a lot and I'm used of sleeping on my stomach and am scared too death to lay on my stomach now. I guess I need to discuss that with my doc when I see him for post op on Tuesday. I finally had a bowel movement today, I know, how gross huh, LOL, to discuss that on here. But, does anyone have problems with BM's now since surgery? I had a lot of gas and nothing was happening. I didn't take a lot of pain medicine so I know that didn't help a whole lot with backing up my bowels. I finally took some stool softener last night and one this morning. I remember reading something about it's normal for BM's to happen every 2 to 3 days. But the bloating feeling is just so yucky! I'm about to go enjoy a Hope everyone has a great weekend!

The first couple of weeks after surgery I had some painful gas but it finally went away. I don't have much trouble with BM but every once in awhile I get backed up I just take some milk of magnesium and I'm good to go. Some people do have trouble going after surgery but your doctor will tell you what's best for you. Glad your doing well hopefully you can join us at the track soon because they stress for you to walk walk walk. Tina

Hey Tina...I would love to see the day when I can walk with no problems. I just had my second major foot surgery on my right foot on 10/26/05 and my foot still isn't completely healed from that. The bones in that foot are deterioating, geez, i know i spelled that wrong, LOL. I know for sure that i still have about three more months of limited walking on this foot. But who knows...hopefully it will be better by then!!!! My moms has an excercise bike that I use sometimes. She lives a couple of minutes away, so I will be going over there pretty soon on a daily basis and riding it. I can't take it home because she rides it also. The most I can do with walking is like walk into the Dollar Store, get what I need and then walk out. But like with Walmart, I never walk in and out, LOL, so I've been using a wheelchair to go through there. I still wear the "boot" on my foot too. It's still too swollen for me to wear my tennis shoes. I can wear slippers and some slip on shoes though. So anyway.....thanks for the advice of milk of magnesium....I'll try that if it happens again.

Hey Ash, I would personally hate to see you drop out of school!!! I am usually pretty pain tolerant. I've had so many surgeries before and I usually do come back pretty quick! With as well as I'm doing, I'd say yes, possibilityof going back to school in a week. But remember you'll have your post op visit either the following Tuesday or Thursday. I made mine for Tuesday. If she sent your info in to MCD on Wednesday, you should without a doubt hear something by this Wednesday! And then you have to meet with the dietician and to your preop stuff at St. Tammany. I beleive this is usually done on Tuesdays, that is my understanding from when I talked with the Dietician, Joanna! So it looks like you probably wouldn't be able to have surgery before the 13th...I know that isn't good news for you! But also, if you do drop out of school, will you be able to go to work and then hopefully once it's time to enroll back into school, your job would let you? If I were in your shoes, honestly, I do the surgery first!!! Only because I was taking three shots of insulin a day! My kidneys were showing signs of diabetes already, my cholesterol was at stroke levels! So I feel I may not have even seen another year come around....know what I mean! Beleive me, I'm struggling so bad right now from not going back to work yet! And unemployment is barely touching my bills. But once again, I knew this was something I had to have done ASAP. So do what your HEALTH says! And everything will be okie dokie!!!
