(Message already sent to Joyce and Kat) There is a Louisiana Vocational Rehab program with federal funding to help disabled individuals enter the workforce or remain employed. Several folks on OH.com have gone through Vocational Rehab, but I don't have any examples from Louisiana. First step is to get vocational rehab. Below is a link to the Department of Social Services section on vocational rehab: http://www.dss.state.la.us/departments/lrs/Vocational_Rehabilitation.html Here's where the regional offices are: http://www.dss.state.la.us/departments/lrs/LRS_Regional_Offices.html They are all over the state, but I would betcha money that the one in New Orleans isn't open right now, but there are phone numbers so you can find the right one for you. Finding a doctor shouldn't be a problem if the program pays the customary amount for the surgery. Medicaid pays much less, so that's why finding Medicaid providers is difficult (first-hand knowledge here). There's a lot of paperwork and jumping through hoops. In that sense, it' just like any other method to secure weight loss surgery. I tried to call my surgeon's office to see if they have had any vocational rehab patients, but I think they are still on holiday hours. I will check into it some more. Frances
