I'm on Medicaid and went to a seminar in Zachary at Lane Memorial. The doctor's office said they take medicaid but at the seminar the doctor told me it wasn't cost efficient for him to accept medicaid for the surgery....anyway...i didn't find that out until after the seminar and they had given us a packet to read through. In there was a sheet for out of pocket expenses that everyone has to pay before the surgery. It was $650.00 for program expenses and $300.00 for a pych eval. Has anyone else that has had the surgery had to pay those kind of out of pocket expenses???? I was just wondering if that is the norm with all of the physicians? Thanks.....Christie

My psych eval "Out of Pocket" (aka OOP) was $150 after my insurance paid. Funny thing is I have insurance that has GREAT coverage... just have to fight them because I have no co-morbids. Anyway, I dunno what "program expenses" are, but for me, I'll have hospital co-pays and ofc visit co-pays... I expect to spend about $1000 to get my surgery... and I hope to be approved this week Kat
