OT:Hurricane Rita Insurance Problems

I hope the others affected by Hurricane Rita & Katrina are doing better with their insurance companies than we are. The adjustor never called & just showed up when we were gone, at least my daughter was home. She called us and told us to come back he was there, and when she told him we would be back in 5 minutes --he hurried up and left. He never returned our calls. Now we get a letter in the mail that leaves off a large number of things including the appliances ruined by the power surges. We kept them until long after the adjustor, but finally disposed of them. I called the company and they want them inspected by an electrician. Gee, if the adjustor they hired had actually talked to us, we would have kept them until one could see them. This is only the tip of the iceburg of the guys incompetence, and the bull we are getting from the company, but I don't want to bore or depress anyone. I just hope everyone else is doing better with their companies.

I'm so sorry you're going through all this.... For me, I had no insurance, and did not own the building that we lived in... so the losses and insurance claims weren't "my problem" so to speak... I was just handed a "here's your notice to vacate" and that was that. Good luck!!
