Stitches Not Dissolving!

My stitches are not dissolving like they said they would. They are working there way out of my incision. The incision is closed but they are still coming out. My mother in law was telling me about a guy she works with that this happened to. His doctor said his body was rejecting the stitches and forcing them out. I wonder if that is what mine is doing. I'm gonna put in a call to my surgeon and see. I have an appointment on the fourth so I may just wait until then. It's not bothering me or anything it's just hanging out. Has this happened to anyone else? Tina

Tina...call your doctor, it wont hurt to call. If its something that can wait until the 4th then at least you made the phone call. I didnt have stitches, they put some type of glue with adhesive tape over mine and the tape is now coming off which the doc said was fine. Denise 250/235/150

I had the same thing on my incisions, the glue, but inside of one of them they had to cut some muscle to put the stapler in there. They put stitches inside to hold the muscle together and they where suppose to dissolve. I wasn't suppose to be able to see them, but they are coming out of the incision. That is the only one that had any stitching in it, the rest where glued shut like yours. Tina 336/275/145

Tina, The same thing happened to me. I had the glue but my internal stitches came to the surface. It is no big deal. I would not pull them out yourself. The doctor might pull them out when you see him. Lynn J., lap RNY 9/29/04 -150 lbs.

I hope my doctor doesn't pull them out they seem to be firmly attached, ouch. Tina
