I have a date!!!!
Just wanted to let all my Louisiana friends know that, despite Rita, my surgery will go on! My date is, drum roll please... October 31st!!!! Halloween day. Brenda said they could reschedule but I told her heck no. I've had to wait long enough and I'm not superstitious.
Life here is getting back to normal slow but sure. There are still trees down everywhere and roofs have blue tarps on them everywhere around town but people are smiling again.
Can't wait to join all my friends on the losing side of life!

Thanks for the support. Glad life is getting back to normal for you. My biggest desire right now is for the trash trucks to come back and pick up my trash! It's piled high and there is no more room for anymore filled trashbags.
Enjoy the fresh air while you're cleaning up the limbs! I've got to head outside tomorrow and work on a little of that myself.

Peggy!!!! Wonderful news. Which hospital? Women's and Childrens???
I am going to see Dr. Stevens Monday the 17th to discuss the surgery further and get Psych evaluation on Thursday the 20th. Hope to be shortly behind you with a surgery date in November.
My very best wishes.
We escaped without serious damage to the house. A huge Oak tree,at least 100 feet tall, in our back yard came down, but missed all vital things. took out the fence, but nothing else. The tree has already been chopped up and removed from the curb area. WE have been home for a week. My two large aquariums were fine. Fish swimming around like nothing happened. I though they would starve to death or get too hot without air conditioning. We took the two dogs with us. We stayed at a Shelter in DeRidder at a church gymnasium for 4 days. 3 without power.
We were fed and used flash lights to take care of necessary movement.
Candle light dinners every evening. Finally understood that we were not going to be able to return home soon so we went up to Fort Worth near our Son and his family. Holiday inn was great!!!! They accepted the dogs for a fee. Great Grandson could swim in pool and we felt so much better.
You appreciate little things like Hot Showers and regular beds.
If i can do anything for you let me know.

My head tells me I have so much to do before the end of the month. I'm one of those mothers who likes to have everything organized for her family before I go do something for myself. I guess it's the same thing as "nesting" just before a baby is to be born. I'm heading down the road to my own rebirth.
Glad you're back home and safe. Looking forward to having lunch with you.

Good to see you again! Congrats on your surgery date going through. I'll keep you in my prayers for a safe surgery and speedy recovery.
Glad things are getting back to normal in your area. Here in New Orleans clean up is going very well. We on the westbank came through without much damage, and have all utilities back up and running. Much of the eastbank is still without electricity, gas, and phone service. DH's and my job situations are not good. I think I have something lined up - less pay and no benefits, but it will be money coming in.
Take care, Debbie
