surgery hopes no more
INSURANCE STATED MY MD NEEDED TO BE MORE SPECIFIC ON DIET , i HAD TWO SEPARATE TIMES IN THE LAST 2 YEARS WHERE I WAS GOING IN TO MD, TRIED DIET PILLS, DECREASE INTAKE, EXERCISE, BUT ACCORDING TO THEM , MD NOT SPECIFIC ENOUGH, MD CAN TALK TO BOARD TO APPEAL IT, BUT I DOUBT IT WILL HELP, FIRST HEALTH WAS SUPPOSIVELY JUST BOUGHT OUT BY COVENTRY, JUST MY LUCK! THANX FOR THE SUPPORT
I wanted to tell you not to give up.... Two and a half years ago, ago really back in 2000 I went to my first seminar and I knew that the insurance wouldn't approve it. I gave up and then 2 1/2 years ago I tried through my next insurance and they said no. They said no again this summer. So I found yet another insurance and finally they said yes.
So never give up on your dream. Fight for it, believe it and it will be true.
I'll keep you in my prayers....
Diane
I once heard a woman in an interview on self-pay say, "We finance our cars and think nothing of it. Finance your life."
That said, I don't recommend Lakeview at all. I was there for 10 days (pre-WLS) and I honestly thought they were going to kill me. The truth is that if I had not been alert and had my husband there tracking every move, they would have. It was the scariest thing I have ever experienced and I have been in the hospital WAY too many times for this 37 year old body. That said, just down the street is Fairway - they were only a surgery center but are now a hospital. I had my breast reduction there in July and they were fantastic. Even before they were a hospital, my two eldest children had small surgical procedures there. The care and service is nothing short of stellar.
Dr. Lavin's group has self-pay that I think are very reasonable. www.whyweight.com They are staffed at both. They would likely recommend Fairway over Lakeview as well.
I hope you have a very safe journey. Keep us posted please!
Hugs,
Vanessa
I do know someone *****financed her house to make her dream come true. I also know someone else who took extra shifts for a year and saved money. It was never possible for me to do this being a single mother for so long.
As for me I no longer have coventry (from the email you sent me). They are a very horrid company to deal with. One part of their insurance pays for the surgery and the other does not.
I currently have Humana.
Rhonda....
did you go to Dr. Lavin's website? www.whyweight.com
it says lap rny is $18,900
Best to you!
