Hi Denise, Lately I've been lurking and responding, but I haven't started many threads. Well, I posted a post-storm update on me, but no one responded to it. That's not a problem, of course, because it seems like I've been gone and uninterested for a month. I'm trying to get a direction and hold back on my journey and life since the storm**** Louisiana. My house guests left today and there's only three people left in my house. It's so weird and quiet. I've destinated Monday as "scale day," when I see if the progress or regression was during the last few weeks. If I'm fortunate, it will be fairly constant and I can commit myself to some aggressive positive steps. I know your date is quickly approaching. I'm very excited for you and I hope it's a smooth, beautiful start for your post-op journey. Onward! Frances

I have been on the run from the threat of RITA. We live in Westlake, near Lake Charles. We got into a traffic jam getting to DERidder to a shelter. Took us 4 hours to go 50 miles. The storm knocked the electric out there so we had no A/c or lights for a while. Then a generator provided lights and refrigeration for food, but No a/c after 4 days and nights we moved on to the Fort Worth area where our son lives. We had to stay out of our home area because they were blocking the roads and forcing us to stay out. Got home late yesterday after two weeks. Had no time to even lurk. Cleaning the refrigerator has been a real experience!!! Fortunately Our house is OK. Huge Oak tree in our backyard fell, but didn't hit the house. It is so big it fills the back yard up. That's enough about that. I have appointments to get back on track for wls. Hope this spiced up your reading for today. Thelma

Hi everybody, It's been crazy at my house. Homecoming is tomorrow and my daughter has me running around like a crazy person. If this is what she's going to be like when we are planning her wedding; I hope she elopes!! I can't believe it will be a year since my surgery. It's been a life altering change, mentally as well as physically. I've learned so much about myself. I thank God everyday that I had rny. I'm leaving the first of November to visit my son and his family in Germany. He will be coming back from Afghanistan and I will be surprising him at the airport. I can't wait to see my 2 grandcuties!! Well that's my update for now. Everyone take care and stay healthy!! Susan

Homecoming....I am off today looking for dresses. My daughters is next weekend. Torture for me...I tried to teach a lesson to my daughter and it is backfiring on me. She does not have a concept of time. Does things in her own sweet time table, puts everything off to the last minute. It really urks me to no end. So I keep saying I have things to do when she has asked to go shopping putting it off to the last minute. Well of course she does not see it as a lesson she sees it as me being mean and not wanting her to have a nice dress. She would look fabulous in a potato sack. I am trying to tell her it is not the dress but the person in the dress. She found one the other day $289.00 NO WAY!!!!!! The eloping does sound good, she has always talked about going to the tropics to get married. I am very excited you are getting to go to Germany. Have a blast!!!! Take care JC

JC, I know what you mean about doing things at the last minute. I have the opposite of that problem. When my daughter finds a dress, she always finds a "better" one after that. This year we ended up with 3 dresses. As of yesterday she has changed her mind about a million times. Of course, her angel of a boyfriend ordered his tux weeks ago to match the first dress and was willing to change it. She came to her senses and is sticking with the first one. If you can get to a Dillard's, they have great markdowns on beautiful dresses and gowns. Some as low as $14. My daughter graduates next year and has been going to Homecoming and proms since she was in the 8th grade. I can open up a dress shop by the time she is through with school. Most important for me is next year will be the last time I have to buy a mum. 3 boys and a girl make for a lot of Homecoming mums!! Well, my daughter is awake and ready to start her day; nails, hair, makeup, tanning and picking up the mum for her boyfriend. Long day for me, but I decided to get my nails, hair and tan also today. Have a great Saturday!!!! Susan

HI DENISE.... I KNOW YOU ARE GETTING EXCITED MORE AND MORE AS YOUR DAY IS APPROACHING FAST. I AM SO EXCITED FOR YOU. I CANNOT WAIT TO POST ON THE BOARD THAT YOU HAVE MADE IT THROUGH SURGERY AND DOING WONDERFUL. I WILL BE MAKING MY WAY TO THE HOSPITAL TO SEE YOU AFTER YOU HAVE YOUR SURGERY AND FINALLY GET TO MEET YOU IN PERSON. I HAVE BEEN PRETTY BUSY THIS WEEK, WITH FIGHTING SCHOOL AND HAD TO TAKE MY 6 YEAR OLD TO GET HER EYES EXAMINED, AND SHE HAD TO GET GLASSES. SHE IS SO EXCITED ABOUT HER NEW GLASSES BUT IN THE SAME SENTENCE SHE IS SCARED ABOUT WHAT THE KIDS AT SCHOOL ARE GOING TO SAY ABOUT HER HAVING THEM. I TOLD HER JUST IGNORE THE ONES THAT MAKE FUN OF HER. SHE SAID MOMMA I CAN DO THAT, I IGNORE YOU AND DAD ALL THE TIME. WELL GO FIGURE!!!! LAUGHS. NOW THAT I HAVE GOTTEN MY SOCIAL SECURITY DISABILITY AND MY SSI STARTED, I WILL BE AT HOME MORE OFTEN AND ABLE TO POST AND BE ON THE BOARDS MORE THAN I HAVE BEEN. I HOPE THIS POST FINDS EVERYONE IN GOOD SPIRITS AND HEALTH. GOD BLESS, LORI

Hey all glad we got so many reponses. I am glad. You know even with the hurricane****ting we all still need the support of either having or have had this surgery. Need to be here for each other and talk when needed. You all have become very important to my life. Dont think I could do this alone. And only us that have had or having this surgery really can relate. Our families dont quite understand. Thanks all denise
