OMG OMG CONSULT IS DONE!!
Well I must say it's an amazing feeling!! I went today for my first consult with my new surgeon and WOW! I don't even know where to start...
Ok, short short SHORT version... I started 6 mo ago with a different surgeon... found better insurance and a great surgeon after I changed jobs to my current hospital... and was ready to start. I got all my appointments set up for after the new insurance took effect, September 1, 2005. And guess what?!?! Katrina wiped out my entire insurance network on August 29, 2005!!!
I was just about ready to give up entirely! About 5 days after the storm, I saw my surgeon and his partner in the hospital (I work with their patients during the hospital stay). I asked them about when they will be seeing patients again, and I was told that they were working on it. About a week later, I called his office (through the operator) and they connected me with the Baton Rouge office. Turned out I got an appointment for 5 days later!!
I got in to see him today!! I have been officially diagnosed with (besides SMO):
1. Degenerative Arthritis
2. Stress Incontinence
3. Peripheral Edema
4. IBS
5. Probable Sleep Apnea
6. Probable Hyperlipidemia
7. Probable Gallstones
8. Possible Hypothyroidism
So now I get to have EKG, Labs, Sleep Study, Psych Study, US of Gall Bladder, and then submit for insurance!!
WOO HOOO!! I am on the road again!!!

Oh I am sooooooooooo happy for you!! You have been so supportive to those of us who have gone before you. I am assuming you made it "safely" through Katrina and Rita. Please continue to keep us updated.
Do you know if Touro Hospital is back in business? I have an appointment on the 20th of October and don't have any idea if I'll be able to go or not. Thanks for info you have.
Blessings, Pamela
