RITA !!!!!
For those of you who are all along the coast of Louisiana.. Who is staying and riding it out and who is heading north??? We are prob. leaving in the morning... We live in an old mobile home just 30 miles from the gulf and about that many from the Tx state line.. I am spending my day today trying to decide what to bring with me and what to leave behind. Hoping and praying that it will still be standing and dry inside... Sending out my prayers to everyone else who is in the path of the storm... especially those in Texas who will get the direct hit...
Sondra
Sondra,
I don't blame you one bit for leaving, better safe than sorry. I remember as a kid living in Florida and my mom would always pack the important papers (insurance, birth certificates stuff like that) and she always took the photo albums. She always said the other stuff can be replaced. Good luck in the coming days.

Hello Sondra! I'm your neighbor. I live in Westlake. We're sticking it out. My hubby has to go into work at the plant for the second 24 hour shift of the hurricane. He didn't volunteer but was basically volunteered by those above him. I guess that's what he gets for being in management. This evening or tomorrow, we'll be moving all outdoor stuff that can be tossed around in the winds, into the shop. I'll be filling up the water jugs and bathtubs and finding all the batteries and flashlights in the house, just in case. We've got a crawfish burner and b-b-que pit to cook on if the electricity goes out. I went to the library and got three large books plus have several other projects ready to work on while I sit around waiting....
Stay safe and God bless! My prayers go out to those along the Texas coast as well as our own state of Louisiana!

Sondra, I'm taking off too thurs am. I'm in Lake Charles and shut my office down, brought all computers home, and now trying to secure home.I have two grandchildren here and taking them with me. It may be all for naught, but better safe than sorry. My thoughts and prayers are with the folks in Texas.
Hi Sondra,
I had to get in on this thread from mostly Calcasieu Parish. My thoughts and prayers are with everyone from DeQuicy, Sulphur, Westlake, Iowa, Vinton, Moss Bluff and my hometown of Lake Charles.
My parents and brother's family are here with me in Baton Rouge. My sister had to evacuate with 108 nursing home patients. I wish we could all be together.
Everyone staying home, be wise and prepared. We now the drill, now it's time to put it into action.
All my best,
Frances
