Just got off the phone with UHC!!

Yes, that is right I just got off the phone with United Healthcare. When I talked with them on Friday they said they rec'd 31 pages from the surgeons office. Well I was going through my paperwork and decided to count how many pages I had. I happened to have more than 31. So this morning bright and early I called. I wanted to make sure they had the surgeons letter and my letter. The rep was very kind and looked at everything they rec'd. They got everything but 3 out of my 4 pages of appeal. They only got the last page. Now I know the surgeons office faxed everything. So where are my other 3 pages? The rep gave me my new case number and asked that I fax the remainder of my letter. I faxed it 3 times just to make sure they got it. Will call back in the morning to confirm this. Funny how things disappear at the insurance company!!!

yes, funny isn't it? But 31 pages of faxing, it would be easy to miss a couple too. We didn't send but a few pages for mine.

It could be that the doctors office's fax machine pulled two or three pages through at once. I have had that happen before. I'm sure they didn't stand there and watch all 31 pages go through. Good for you for staying on top of things, sometimes that's the only way to get the job done right. I really hope this appeal goes through for you, and I hope it goes through fast too. Hi Tina, You know it gets even funnier...Yesterday I faxed my 4 page letter with a cover sheet. I did it three times just to make sure...Called this morning they only rec'd two pages of my letter. So I faxed the last two pages today. Will call again tomorrow. I have confirmation from my fax machine how many pages went yesterday and today. I have UHC on speed dial...

JC, Keep at it...they will give in eventually. I still haven't filed my appeal yet, have all the paperwork in to the surgeons office but they want to wait until next month to submit it. The surgeon even suggested contacting the obesitylaw.com site to secure a lawyer. I was thinking "Whats up with that?!?" This is how he said it "you meet the criteria, you have met all of their requirements but you might need to call a lawyer to speed things up if you want to do it this year" We haven't even submitted our first appeal. Oh well, I just needed to vent a little along with you. Now I should feel better.......................still waiting............ See ya! Teresa

Hi friend.... I am still at it. Called this morning and they only rec'd two out of four pages yesterday. I faxed that letter three times. Even got the confirmation that all pages sent were ok. This morning I faxed the last two pages. I think I will be making a road trip to San Antonio...It is a seven hour drive, maybe I need to hand deliver everything to them. Do you know why your surgeon is waiting until next month to send in the appeal? Hey if your insurance company is in San Antonio I'll swing down and pick you up and we will fight together.
