Hi, I'm from Mandeville. Is there anyone out there that lives in Mandeville that I can talk to about the aftermath of Katrina? If so, please contact me. I'm considering relocation. Someone talk me into going home!

hi butterfly, im not from mandeville, but i go there once a week, things ae moving slowly, my friend lives 5 blocks from lake ponchatrain, she is on generators and will be for about a month, mail is starting to run in some areas, i hear to go to walmart , you have to wait outside, and they only let a certain # of people in at a time. getting gas is easier now, sometimes you have to wait in line, you can get some free ice, water, and MRE's at target parking lot, im not sure how much longer they will do that. feel free to email me if there is anything else i can answer, if i don't know , i can ask my friend in mandeville,

Hi Vanessa! It's nice to hear from you. I know that it's so hard being away from home. I'm working with Jon Donley again -- a year after leaving Nola.com because of the distance and my recurrent illnesses. Jon and his family are from Mandeville. It's so hit and miss there -- a patch of grace next to utter destruction. For three days, Jon didn't know where his daughter Sarah was because she went to Mandeville to ride out the storm and got stuck at his house. Here's an account of how Mandeville took the storm: http://www.nola.com/weblogs/bourbon/index.ssf?/mtlogs/nola_bstdiaries/archives/2005_09.html#080126 This page has Mandeville pictures on Sept. 15 and Sept. 3: http://www.nola.com/katrinaphotos/user/ Jon and his wife are from Texas and plan to return to Mandeville as soon as they can. I would love to get you in touch with them if you like. I would love to talk to you too, but my perspective is slightly different. They have seen Mandeville since the storm. I'm thinking of you and hoping you will let us know if there's anything we can do to help you in this transitionary phase. Keep up your spirits and your protein! Frances

Hi Crissy, Interesting about your SIL. I was case number 2. I wonder if she was before or after me. I'm not coming home. Long story. To make it short, I'm leasing my house in Mandeville and buying a house north of Houston. If you know of someone looking to lease a 4 bd 2.5 ba beautiful house on an acre in prime Mandeville location, let me know. Hugs, Vanessa

No, say it isn't soooooo.. I too thought I would relocate right away. I immediately started looking for jobs elsewhere, and still don't know if or when I will have a job here. But babygirl and I came back Sunday, are leaving out today. The city is about 90% up and running. Everyone is hopeful. You don't have to wait in line for Walmart anymore. They just have shorter hours for now. Even restaurants are open, hair places, nail places, etc. School starts Oct 3rd. I know a lot of people in TX want to stay there. Jobs are in abundance, and TX is helping so many people. Email me and let me know what is going on. I truly wish you the best. As for me, I never appreciated my home until I came home and it was still standing, withou****er in it. Babygirl wants to come home. Big girl is still undecided. Take care girl.
