Rhonda Melancon?
Has anyone heard from Rhonda Melancon? I am really worried about her and have been watching the posts to see if she'd checked in. I feel a special connection with her. She'd agreed to be my angel *whenever* I finally get to have my DS. I imagine Dr. Warden's office is gone, too...
But nevertheless I would really like to know that she's ok. If anyone knows anything about her, could you please pass it along?
Denise in Ark
Denise,
This is the first chance I have gotten to respond on the website. My family and I are safe in AZ. We have been traveling from Memphis, then a couple of nights in KY, then a few more nights in Nashville area, then on to OKC, Albuquerque and finally to Phoenix area. I have a sister that lives in Mesa so we made our way out here.
I ended up in the hospital once I got to Phoenix area due to dehydration. But, I am doing much better now and am watching my fluid intake carefully. I have lost a bit more weight than I should but haven't been able to get a grip because of the diarreah. I'm down to about 103 lbs now and look awful--but I guess not bad considering all that has been happening.
I was on TV twice since arriving in AZ (once because they were doing a telethon for funds and I was the lead story, and once at the ASU-LSU game on Saturday night) and my son had an article done on him about his changing schools, etc. He had a second interview with The AZ Republic but I don't know what is to come of that. I have met the Gov. of AZ twice and personally spoke to her about my concerns regarding getting the services we need for my youngest son, Seth, who is autistic.
It looks as if I may permanently relocate to AZ. At least that is the premise we are going on for now. My 16 & 15 y.o. started school last Monday. Skylar starts tomorrow and a I am working diligently to get Seth placed appropriately in special ed. The people we have met along the way out here in AZ have been a Godsend. I do think we have an advantage by being further out west since we aren't competing with as many refugees for the limited amount of services like others in TX. The Gov. of AZ had just spoken to the AR Gov when I spoke to her on Monday and said that they had about 75,000 evacuees. I think AZ has less than 1,000 (at least in the PHX area that have been processed--that figure probably doesn't count the self-evacuees) But, still the processing for basics needs is lengthy but nothing like what many of the "closer" states are experiencing.
I will try to check-in when I can. We are currently staying with a friend of the family so getting to the internet for anything other than "business/insurance" issues is limited.
Rhonda
