Help the victims of katrina

I live very close to Lake charles,its where we go to do everything from shopping ,to movies,and church.Lake charles was spared because God does not give us more than we could handle,and he knew that people would need someplace to go,so being southwest of new orleans we got the evacutees,they are held up in the civic center,and our area hospitals are takeing in the sick.The people need bottled water,snack foods,cloths,books,anything that will help them be comfortable.They also need blankets,pillows,and baby stuff.If anyone wants to help they can package up the donated stuff and mail it to me,I will hand deliver it to the civic center,they are excepting things.I have a large suburban,so Its easy for me to do. Ella, that's what we're doing here... I'm lucky in that I have family willing to band together (10 adults and 3 kids in 2 two bedroom trailers)... We are also accepting donations and making up care packages for the local refugees, there are about 5K in the shelters, not counting those inside hotels. Kat

SueElla, This is a great idea. The company I work for has been feeding the people at the civic center and we have made huge donations. I work for Harrah's and heard today that our Casino's in MS didn't make it. However, Harrah's has decided to pay the employee's that can not work right now which I think is an awesome thing. Gina

That is so cool,im so happy to hear they are doing that,those people have a hard enough time without worrying about no work,no paycheck! Hopefully people will come thru and send in some donations for me to deliver,if not ill be bringing what weve gotten together here.

Hey Ella this is great what you are doing. I just paid my son's college tuition so I am broke..I am sending 2-way radios to a Animal search rescue team. They suggested sending them gift cards to save in shipping cost. I do get paid in 2 weeks and I am sure there will still be a need. Would you be willing to go get the things and taking them to the shelters if gift cards were sent to you instead Thanks Donna

I can do that ,but right now the Red Cross is needing monetary donations,You can go to there website and make a donation online,make sure you specify Harricane katrina victims. SueElla
