Evacuation?
Hi Kat,
Are you still here? We are planning to ride it out. We feel pretty good about where we are but I'm really concerned about you and all the people in that big bowl called New Orleans. Please don't wait too long to leave. My thoughts and prayers are with you and everyone in the city.
Take care,
Linda
As of the news that is on NOW... max sustained winds at 145 mph, with gusts to 175... and still quite a ways out... I am locking down as we speak and moving out.... This does not seem good, fortunately I'm on the relief team (not the crisis team) for my hospital and I can go... I have only once ever evacuated before... can't remember which it was (maybe Andrew?) but it does not look good for my beloved hometown... I will be available by cell phone... I'll email my cell number to you if you want it. I expect to be leaving in about 2 hrs.
Kat
(crossing her fingers)
Oh, Kat, I wish I had gotten your post before you left. If there is some way that you can get this message, where ever you end up, please email me at [email protected] with your cell phone number because I really want to know that you and your family are okay! I am really worried about New Orleans, too. If it hits like they say it will, I just don't know what will happen to that grand old city. All we can do is pray for anyone that can't get out and that special city. This really is what we've always feared, isn't it?
Would you believe that my 5 month check-up appointment with Dr. Richardson was scheduled for Monday at Ochsner? Well, it was!
Take care and be safe!!!
Linda
I am ok at the moment... It is our worst nightmare... the fact that it missed the "dead on" hit... isn't relevant... this is the worst we could have had... and I sit here in tears of exasperation.... and tears at seeing how the communities everywhere, including in Houston, began monetary collection locations before we even finished driving out of Houston yesterday early afternoon!
It is a great comfort to those of us who are scared and homeless :hugs:
I hope you are ok... and if you and others are inclined... maybe we (those around Baton Rouge) could have an impromptu support meeting... just to connect with one another through this crisis.
