thanks to all who gave me a little piece of mind about that drain tub. It really didn't hurt, By the time I got to the dr. that day i didn't care about nothing but getting that drain tub removed. And I can truthfully say it didn't really hurt but I felt something. But I will say if you have a drainage tub to be remove make sure you don't wear a white shirt when having it done. After the Doctor remove my tub he told me to sit up and boy so much drainage came pushing out all on the floor and me. Wet me up and the Doctor and the floor. I went home and kept draining so much I couldn't keep a pad on it so I just went through towel after towel for like 6 hours. have anybody else had this to happen to them. just wondering LOL, sandra

hi sandra, sounds like the drain was pulled to soon. It shouldn't have drained all that afterwards. Were you having a lot of drainage in the drain before it was pulled, If not , it may have had a blockage in the tube, but if you have slowed down , everything should be ok. Can't put it back in . Im a nurse , just a little input... hope you are doing ok now.. rhonda

That does sometimes happen when the tube is clogged up and unable to drain properly. Then a lot will drain when it comes out. Most times it will stop draining after a day or two and just gradually heal up. The only time you really need to worry is if your drainage is flowing a lot constantly and is pus colored or bright red (pink is ok, it will clear slowly) then you should see your doc again Kat

Forgot to say that if it's a problem, see if the doc will allow you some ostomy supplies to contain the drainage in a device and empty it at your leisure. It's more conenient, and better on your skin than taping dressings to your skin and letting the moisture breakdown the skin. Kat

Sandra, was that the G -Tube from your stomach or the JP tubes ( with the pressure bulbs to catch the drainage ) that are just attached to drain extra fluid from outside around the pouch area? Just wondering. The G- tube made a huge mess for me too and drained the rest of the day but once it was done, I had no more problems with it. The JP drains shouldnt have drained at all. Just please call your doc if it keeps draining ok?? ~Andrea~
