Need prayers for young kids
This has been a tramatic week for my daughter and a lot of her friends.
A week ago today, my daughters friends little sister was seriously injured in a freak boating accident. It severed her arm, due to the injuries it was not able to be reattached. She was to start her freshman year.
Yesterday my daughter called me from work to tell me another good friend came home and found her mom dead. My daughter was very broken up. When she came home last night she came into my room extremely upset. She just kept telling me she loved me. You see the past few months we have had our own problems. Just teenage stuff, my mom is so strict, she just doesn't understand, why can't you be cool kind of stuff.
I am just asking for prayers for the families and friends. Especially for the young kids that are dealing with this. It is hard enough for adults to have to deal with truama but all these kids are friends. I know how torn up my daughter is and I am sure there are others feeling the same pain and not understanding.
Thank-you all so much.
JC
JC,
Your week sounds like the one I have been dealing with. Had three funerals last week (my best friend's mom, my grandfather and a classmate of my son's--16--committed suicide on Monday) and now that tremendous loss of 3 high school students from Chalmette (with two still hanging on) in a terrible car accident on Sunday. My daughter knows the boy that is still alive. My heart goes out to you and these families. I can't imagine having to lose a child. My youngest sister died at the age of 17 due to juvenile diabetes and Reye's Syndrome. As a mother now, I can't imagine any greater pain.
I went to LSU in the mid-70s and there was a beautiful girl there in my dorm that was from Shreveport that had lost her arm in a boating accident the summer before her Freshman year. She was able to attend LSU in Baton Rouge in her Sophomore year. She was also on Homecoming Court her Junior Year, belonged to a sorority, excelled in academics. I always remeber her due to the adversity she had overcome and her beauty and grace.
I, too, have been going through some "teenage" issues with my daughter but I know that I just have to keep the lines of communication open and do more listening than talking--for now. I will keep you, your daughter and her friends in my thoughts and prayers.
Rhonda
Rhonda,
Thank-you so much for your post and your words of wisdom. I needed that right now.
I know the girl who lost her arm is doing good right now. From what I understand she has a lot of caring friends, and is doing well now. I'm sure there will be times for her.
I know how hard life can be for us adults and todays kids are faced with so much more than we were mid 70's to early 80's.
I just got off the phone with our youth pastor my daughter wants to go talk with him. I felt better about myself just talking with him this morning.
There was also a tragic accident north of town Monday. Four kids involved, some are in critical condition. Also a school bus wrecked yesterday morning and three kids and the driver are in the hospital. Two kids in fair condition. The bus goes to my kids elementary and middle school.
Rhonda, I will also pray for your family and the families that you mentioned in your post. And thank-you for your post. I received it just when I needed it the most.
Take care,
JC
