Looking to have Gastric Bypass surgery.
My cardiologist is recommending that I have this surgery. My other doctors agree. I will be having it at Touro since all my doctors are there. Anybody had it there? If so, how did it go for you? Any information will be helpful to me. I have been more seriously thinking about having this done. For myself, wife and 2 grown daughters. Please let me know anything that you can.
Dr Louis Martin does it there. I was going to use him, but his office seemed very busy and I kind of felt like " take a number lady". I had to have my gallbladder out, which is what prompted me to try to have the RNY at the same time. I did not have a lot of time to jump through new hoops. I already had all of the tests done anyway ( apnea/ Abdominal Ultrasound). They wanted me to have a pap smear, mammogram, and some other tests that I really thought were just not necessary to have this surgery.
I went to Dr Richardson at OSchner. He is a meticulous surgeon. I highly recommend him. Dr Martin has a lot of experience, but I hope you are very patient, because his practice seems very busy. I wish I could remember the profile that I read that went to Dr Martin... Sorry
Good Luck
Hi Charles,
I had my surgery done by Dr. Clark Warden. He is with the Surgical Specialists of Louisiana. They are on the website of "whyweight.com". I did not have my surgery at Touro, i had it at Lakeview, in covington. I seem to remember that this group of doctors used to also perform at Touro though. I am not sure if they still do, but you may want to look into that. Good luck on your journey and i hope this is helpful information.

Hi Charles,
I know no one wants to leave town for surgery, but the wait time and "hoop-jumping" in New Orleans for this surgery is pretty extensive. If you do consider leaving metro New Orleans, like Dee, I would suggest Dr. Karl LeBlanc. Not just because he did my lap band surgery, but because he's a skilled master surgeon and renowned for his tackling of difficult surgerical issues and you will present some challenges because of your cardiac history.
Dr. LeBlanc practices with Surgical Specialty Group and Miminally Invasive Surgical Institute in Baton Rouge. www.misila.org.
Whatever you decide to do, I do hope and pray you have great success and launch a new start to health and wellness.
All my best,
Frances
