What a difference!
Hello everyone! I posted this on the Main Message Board but I also wanted to say a big hello to all my fellow Louisianians!
I am fairly new here. Although I have responded to a few posts, this is my first time to post. I just had to share my news. Today is the four month anniversary of my surgery and, as of this morning, I have removed 72 pounds! What a difference four months can make!!!
Just to introduce myself --- I am 58 years old and married to the greatest guy around. We've been married for 39 years and he has been my best friend and the most supportive person in my life through "thick and thin". We have one son, aged 35, and a wonderful daughter-in-law and grandson in Alabama. (plus 2 grandkitties, currently living with us)
I love quilting and counted cross stitch and I'm really enjoying getting to know you all.
Hugs to all,
Linda
72 pounds is fantastic, i am so happy for you. i am fairly new to here also and waiting to have surgery. i had the stomach stapling in 1988 and gained all back so the bypass is my new blessing.
how much do you want to lose?
I am looking at about 100 pds.
Have you been exercising any? what have you had to overcome in your eating? anything hard for you? any advise you can give me would be great.
Oh by the way i am denise and 42 with 3 great kids and a beautiful 5 month old grand daughter. I dont work per say, except my house and watch my grand daughter daily.
My hobbies is my roses and karaoke and riding motorcycles, and in fall and winter i crochet.
good meeting you
denise
Hi Denise,
It was so nice of you to respond. I would like to get rid of about 130 pounds. My doctor's goal for me is about 20 pounds heavier than mine and, believe me, I would be thrilled to remove that much weight (110 pounds) but I really would like to do a little better than that.
I do exercise. I walk every day and three times a week I also do the weight resistance machines at the health club.
I really don't have a problem keeping my eating in check but I'm still at the stage where I don't experience much hunger. I understand that changes with time. I have decided to aproach sugar and sweets with the attitude that they will make me very sick with the dumping that can occur. The truth is I don't know if I have a problem with dumping because I've never tested it. I think either reaction (dumping or the ability to eat sugar and sweets) would be something that wouldn't be good for me!
It's nice to meet you and I look forward to getting to know you.
Linda

hooray for you, Linda. Anyone who says that this is the easy way out should be slapped. I am down at least 156 lbs since Sept. 27, 2004 and am still working at it. It feels great, doesn't it? I am 48 and have 3 boys and two grand puppies. My boys are 21(twins) and a 17 year old. Would love to hear more about you and talk about the problems that we still face with all of the weight loss. Keep plugging away and believe in Him that makes all of this possible. Love, Debbie
Oh, Debbie, I love your attitude! I've thought the same thing. Easy? They don't even begin to understand, do they? You are doing so great! 156 pounds! That really is fantastic. You must be so thrilled! I know how much better I feel having removed my 74 pounds. It sounds like you are really blessed --- 3 sons and 2 grandpuppies. I would love to talk more with you, too. It's wonderful to hear from someone so close to home! You're right, He really is the One that makes it all possible and I am truly thankful!!!
Hugs,
Linda
