I would LOVE to see our group participate in the "Walk from Obesity" on Sept 24, 2005. If there's anyone interested in doing the walk, please let me know so we can all coordinate and do something simliar (maybe matching T'shirts, sunhats, or something). I will be there to staff the Obesity Help table, and I'd like to see if maybe we could get a professional sponsor for our walking group. I vaguely remember Francis talking about it... are you planning on going Francis? Anyone else want to join us? Walkers and volunteers are both welcome!

Hi nurse kat I heard you mentioned something that caught my immediate attention. I was looking to find a benefit to participate in that included walking. You know lately walking is like my new past time. How many miles will the walk be and in what part of baton rouge will it take place? freddie

I do not know what part of Baton Rouge just yet, nor do I know how long... but this is the recommended training schedule: http://www.walkfromobesity.com/training.php

Hi Nursie, I've waited a couple of days trying to get some answers to the Walk questions posed. I put some information on my blog and I'll post it to the Louisiana Forum right now. I spoke with Holly Edmonds and the walk include two distances. There will be a 1 mile walk and a 5K. Both of those are pretty small. I think 5K is less than 3 and a half miles. The previous walk that we participated in was 5 miles and very doable and I had only been walking one week due to surgeries and infection issues. There will be T-shirts provided, but the Baton Rouge walkers will be individuals instead of team-based like WalkAmerica was. I look forward to seeing you there. Onward! Frances
