Had a great weigh in today. I reached my surgeon's goal weight of 110. I have my one year appointment with him on Wednesday. I hope the weight maintains so that I can "officially" weigh in and have met his goal in one year. (Now if he will just let me weigh-in in my panties and wris****ch only like at home---) We will probably be discussing my incisional hernia and what will be done for that, too. My labs are great and am just dealing with a minor loose stool issues that are probably more related to my ulcers and some recent stress situations (damn that IBS) than it is to having WLS. Dr. started me on a new med, Colestid, which is a cholesterol lowering med but is being use for an "off-use" purpose. Only been on it about a week but there is some improvement. We'll see how it goes. Rhonda 225/110/110-at GOAL TODAY!

Denise, I had the Duodenal Switch surgery. You are probably referring to the RNY as your bypass surgery. Both the DS and RNY are a type of "bypass" surgery. That said, I really don't have any great hints about what to do since there are so many LESS restrictions and post-op complications with the DS than with RNY. Regardless, just listen to your surgeon and your body, have patience with yourself, the weight WILL come off in due time, please be sure to get in your vitamins, supplements and fluids as best you can. Any WLS is a "tool" that you have to use properly to get the most from. For me, the post-op problems were more of a result of my body and healing complications not the surgery itself. Once the post-op problems were resolved the weight loss was a breeze. I actually didn't pay much attention to the weight loss the first 6 months due to the problems I had to overcome. I lost 75 lbs at 6 mos., 100 lbs at 9 mos., and 115 lbs at 1 year (now weighing 110 lbs--my surgeon's goal weight). Good luck to you in your journey. Rhonda DS on 7/7/04 225/110 at goal in 1 year

Hi Rhonda, I know i'm a little late, but i wanted to say CONGRATULATIONS on reaching your goal weight. I can just imagine how excited you are for that accomplishment. I have about 15 more pounds to lose to reach my goal and i plan to do that by my 1 year anniversary which is 9-9-04. I'm sorry to hear about your other issues, but i hope all works out well for you soon. Do you go to support group, and if you do, where do you go? I attend support group at the Cancer Institute at Memorial on the last thursday of every month. The group is headed up by WhyWeight/Surgical Specialists. I have an interest in meeting local people who are in the same situation that i am in and who have or have had some of the same issues...the ones that my other friends can't begin to understand. Well, again, Congratulations on your success. Take care, ~Missy~

Rhonda, I don't know if you realize it or not, but I'm following your story and cheering you on. When the wonderful day comes that I get my insurance business worked out, I've even wanted to ask if you want to be my angel! (oh but for that day to come...) Keep on keeping us updated- you DID it and you're pressing through to lead the way for rest of us. Your posts about Dr. Warden and his office have been of so much comfort and so confidence-inspiring. You just can't know how much difference you have made. You DESERVE this and I'm so happy for you! Denise

Kelli, How are you feeling, hun? Sorry I haven't had time to respond before now to ask how you are doing but I've been keeping up with the posts and know you are doing great. I saw Dr. W on Wed. I do have a hernia that needs repair and will be getting a panniculectomy at the same time (YEA!). Just waiting on the insurance thing to get sorted out but that shouldn't really be a problem due to the hernia that MUST be addressed. I really hope to get this done before the kids have to go back to school. Last year I was in the hospital with complications so the start of school was a real nightmare. Not to mention I had just gotten out of the hospital with my 3rd surgery when we had to evacuate for Ivan. Hope this goes smoother than last year. Hope to see you Thursday at the support group meeting. Rhonda 225/110 @ goal
