Well, it's official!! I've had several emails from members who like the OHLA name and so it's been "adopted" officially by our group! So now we can move on to the important things, like scheduling a meeting date/time. I know the board has been a bit slow the last few days, but hang in there, we have more and more members coming in and picking up the pace!

Hi, I'm new to this board and I would really like to find out more about OHLA. Is it a support group with regular meetings or a group that gets together for fun social events or what? Either way, I'm definitely interested! A little more info for us new people would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Linda

We've met twice, and so far it's been an informal support group. I would like to see us meeting monthly for a support group meeting followed by some sort of socialization event. (Yep that's my "vision" of OHLA). Fram the variety of emails I've gotten, July 23 just has too many plans already, too short notice. SO I pose a question to everyone.... What do you guys think of making the 2nd Sat of the month our "standing" date?

I like the idea of having a definite day each month. That way it will be easy to plan each month to save that day for OHLA.

Hi Kat, I like the "official name". I really wanted to come the the lunch last month, but i waited till the last minute, and ended up not coming. I think the idea of a support group/socializing group is a good one. Unfortunately, i work on the weekends and would never be able to participate, but still a good idea nonetheless. I think it is a wonderful thing that you are taking the initiative to do that, it takes a lot of time and dedication and it is appreciated. If there is ever an event that i can attend, i plan to. I really do want to meet some local people who i can relate to in the way of WLS. My "normal" friends just don't unerstand the things that us WLS patients go through on an everyday basis. I do go to support group once a month at the Cancer Institute at Memorial, and i truly enjoy it. Thanks again for your efforts. ~Missy~
