Cancelling July 16th event!
Well, I was hoping that folks would like the idea of a swamp boat ride... guess I was wrong... not one response to go.
So I'm just making it official in case anyone planned to show up at the last minute.
I am not defeated yet though... I **will** make this support group work... even if it's gotta wait till I'm not depressed anymore.
Kat,
Keep trying! I appreciate it! I will come to an event soon! I couldn't go on the 16th because my family is going to the beach this weekend. I used to be an event planner and honestly summer is the slowest time of the year. It seems the opposite would be true but I suspect family vacations and summer activities keep people very busy during the months of June, July, and August. September can pick up a litte but October is even better because the kids have settled into school and people are back into their routines. Where am I going with this?
Every months has it's own set of cir****tances really.
I think you're doing a great job! I've heard from several people that the party are you house was a huge success. I don't have a pool but we belong to the yacht club and there is a wonderful area for swimming and a playground for volleyball, playground equipment, etc. and it is right on the Lake so there is always a nice breeze. We could have something there. There are grills on the deck and you just bring what you want to cook and cook it right there. For a large crowd there is a fee but it's reasonable. I'm just not sure how many people would want to drive to the Northshore? Anyway, it's an idea for you.
Again, thanks and please don't give up yet!
Hugs,
~Vanessa
I'll drive to the Northshore. Oh wait, I am already here. Actually, I don't see anything wrong w/ doing it on the northshore. The one I went to there was plenty of people from out of town, across the river, and the northshore. So would pretty much even things out, so that it is not always people from the northshore driving to southshore. Good idea Vanessa.
Kat, I thought you had some replies to get together, but not the swamp thing. Why not just have everyone meet somewhere like last time. I would be willing to do that, just didn't want to do the swamp thing. People are just busy is all. And I think when people see they have a storm free moment they make plans, like the lady down the street just called her daughter home to jet out of town for a few days at the beach. Don't be discouraged. It possibly was just the event.
Kat
Sorry there wasn't any interest in your planned outing. My DH and I fish regularly in that area, so we get a free swamp tour whenever we want. Could be the time of year was wrong for something like this. The heat doesn't bother me, but for some it may be unbearable. Please don't give up! The weekday lunch was not doable for me as it's hard to get away from work. Thanks for you hard work and effort.
