Support Group tonight...

hi everyone... i am just wondering if any of you are going to support group tonight in new orleans? i plan on being there, and would like to meet any of you who plan on attending. ~Missy~

Which group is that? I'm working on founding an OH support group (called OHNO aka Obesity Help New Orleans) because there currently aren't any groups meeting on weekends... it just seems easier and less like an "information session" to me... FYI: I've been to only one "support group" and it was mostly just a Surgeon dishing info... so I want something more supportive.

Got a dead link when I clicked it... And I'm not sure I'm looking for a surgeon run support group... I'm looking for something that's for/by the patients... I was just curious which one she meant... I'm hesitant to go sit through more speeches telling me why the surgery is good for me and how it's done. I'm a nurse on a bariatric unit, I am already "sold" on it so I don't feel like sitting though more sales pitches.... I would rather gather with people who have had it done, and learn "real life issues" from them.

Kat, Drop the www. It's whyweight.com They have topics and speakes such as dieticians and plastic surgery. The topics are announced on the board so you can know what is happening there before attending. While, the support group is linked to Surgical Specialists, it isn't the seminar type meetings where doctors are trying to sell the surgery. I hope this helps! I'm hoping to attend on of the events but I haven't been able to yet because of my schedule! We already have plans to be out of town on the 16th of July. I hope to meet you and everyone else soon! They are not surgeon run, although LakeView started them I am sure at my doctor's request. They have a nurse there from Lakeview who cooridnates it, sometimes there is a speaker, lots of times it is just people sharing ideas. However, what "we" like we did at your house, is much more casual. And I agree we should keep that going, plus I go to the support groups here on the north shore. I have only been to 2, I liked one and not the other. But I had a whole lot of fun w/ you guys and sorry I missed the last one. I am a bit confused about this next one. Is it going to be a get together at the mall, or are you just meeting there to go on a swamp tour?
