Let me introduce myself...
Hello everyone,
I would like to introduce myself. I am new to this board and would like to get a little more involved with and meet people from the area who have gone through the same things that i have gone through and am going through.
My name is Missy, i am 33 years old, single, no kids, and i live in Metairie.
I had gastric bypass on 9-9-04...starting weight was 314, weight now is 184...so, i have lost 130 lbs. thus far. I have 14 lbs to go to get to my goal. My surgeon was Dr.Warden with the Surgical Specialists of Louisiana.
I look forward to meeting and talking to new people from this board.
I am wondering if any of you go to support group and where do you attend?
I noticed that some people are planning to have a luncheon next week...is that something that you do often?
As i said, i would like to get involved and talk to people in my similar situation.
Thanks,
~Missy~
Missy,
I live in Metairie, too. I am a DS patient of Dr. Warden's. I had an appointment with Chris, the NP, this morning at Omega Hospital on Severn. I will be speaking at the July support group meeting for Surgical Specialists (due to my recent "ER visit" on Monday). I attend the southshore meetings at the New Orleans Cancer Institute on Napoleon (go on their website--www.whyweight.com for exact info and topics to be discussed.) Kat is the one that is so good about getting us organized. If you want to call me, send me an email for my number.
I had my surgery 7/7/04. Started at 225 and weighed in at Dr. W's office this morning at 112.5 with a BMI of 22.

Hey Missy,
I go to the support group for Dr. Lavin's group. It is the last Thursday of the month. Go to whyweight.com and you can find out the topics. I had gastric bypass April 26th, 2004 and I have lost 180lbs. 20lbs to goal weight yeah. I was 351 lbs to start. Congrats on your weight lose.

Hello Missy,
I think I'm the only responder that's not in the Greater New Orleans area, but I wanted to say "hi" and welcome you to our online forum. I'm in a wls support group in Baton Rouge and I sure would like to get over to the New Orleans meeting at some point.
Congrats on the great results and my prayers in your continued journey.
