New to board
Hi, My name is Denise and I am thinking of having the bypass, had the stomach stapling in 1988. I now have a whole in my stomach so have to have surgery anyway on that. Gained almost all weight back. Was 256 down to 137 and now 240 again. I have my consult in July.
Has anyone had both surgerys? Was wondering what the difference will be after surgery.
thanks

Hi, Denise!
Sorry, I can't help you...am pre-op. Just wanted to say welcome to the board and that I hope everything goes well for you.
The advice on posting your question on the main board is probably the best. Not as many people post here.
Take care!
Hello Denise,
Welcome to this board. It's always good to hear from people in Louisiana. I'm a lap bander, but I often hear about revisions being discussed on the revision forum. The main board is busy, busy and this board is fairly slow moving. Here's a link to the revisions forum:

Of course, we hope that we continue to hear from you here on the Louisiana Board. There's at least one other member here from Stonewall and it's nice to hear from you all.
My best to you in your journey.
Frances
Hi Denise! Welcome to the Louisiana Board.
Frances is right, it can be a bit slow moving here, but we are desperately working on getting this board moving. We've started a support chapter of OH here in New Orleans, and I'm working on getting the paperwork for it caught up to the spirit of the Cajuns here!
WELCOME! And if you can make it, we hold meetings here about once a month...
Hi Denise,
My name is Susan and I had my stomach stapling in 1997. I lost about 80 lbs and it slowly crept back up. I had rny in Oct 2004. When I had my consult, Dr. Black told me that all of my staples have dissolved. I ended up being 40 lbs heavier than my heaviest weight before my stapling.
I had a few setbacks related to my rny surgery; one of my lungs collapsed, ulcers and a leak; now I am getting ready to have 4 hernias removed. Like Frances, my hernias were not caused by this particular surgery. Having said this, I would do this surgery every day if I had to. I have lost over 90 lbs, I feel terrific, my energy level is that of a naughty 2 year old and most of all I have discovered the joy of living again. The first month was hard...but it will get better!!!!
There was a difference between this surgery and the stapling. I had much more problems getting food down after I had my stomach stapled.
I hope this helps...good luck!
Susan
