Hi.I really can't help you with your question.I just wanted to say hi and wiah you all the luck in the world in getting your surgery. However,is maybe taking a job working for someone else with ins. that would cover it an option?Maybe if you own your own home think about a home-equity loan or second mortgage.

Thanks for your reply i appreciate it and i am thinking about trying to find some sort of job that will still let me run my business but its going to be difficult. Ive only been in business for 2 years and things are just getting good i hate to give it all up to take a job with someone else and not to mention lose my contractors and let my partner down. Its going to be rough but ill figure it out. Thanks again for being so kind

Hi Jeff, I talked with the Surgical Specialists of LA and was told that with no insurance the cost runs at about $24K (this doesn't include your blood work psych. evaluation, and one other thing I can't remember what she said)... but if you think about it... most ppl don't bat an eye at paying $24K for a 5 yr loan on a car... so why not spend it on yourself for your health? I tried getting this through to my mother, but she wouldn't hear of it... she's still exploring her options. Another friend of mine mentioned checking through "Vocational Rehab" I don't know much more about using this method but I'm told they'll do it if you're insurance doesn't cover it and you can prove that your ability to work is being disrupted by obesity. As for myself, my Dr. (Dr. O'Connell) has appealed the denial from my ins. co and I'm patiently awaiting an answer... I'm told I should hear something in about 45 days. I'm not positive but I believe Dr. O'Connell's office has some sort of financing available also... its worth calling to find out more! Never hurts to ask! Good luck, Kimberly

Hi Jeff, I was self pay. My insurance does not cover anything related to weight loss. I have a breakdown of costs on my profile but, in a nut shell total cost was $19,500 for gastric bypass. I traveled to Texas to have my surgery. I had previously lived in Texas and wanted it done there. You can call around and ask different surgeons their prices. They don't have a problem giving it to you. I did find that in Lake Charles self pay was $30K so, I saved a significant amount by going to Texas. Some people also travel to Arkansas so, you may want to post or read on the Arkansas board. I hear it is affordable there as well as South of the Border. Hope this helps! I wish you all the best in your journey. Keep us posted. Gina
