Hi, Kimberly!
You will find a lot of information on wls here...I don't know what I would have done without the AMOS site. I am still in the pre-op phase...no date scheduled yet. Most people are very supportive and encouraging on the messageboards and willing to answer even the silliest questions. I will keep you in my prayers and wish you well.

Hello Kimberly. I'm a newbie, too. Over the last few months I have been "researching" but as of today, have changed my status on this website to "hoping to have surgery".
I've been talking to friends who have had the surgery done and they said they would do it all over again. They are so happy. Their quality of life has been changed dramatically. I am anxious to meet Dr. Shimer. He was highly recommended to me and I have read nothing but complements about him on this sight and others.
I have also been researching the different types of surgery available. At first I was leaning more toward the LapBand but after researching I think the bybass surgery would be better for me. This board has been so helpful. I find a lot of answers to my questions here. I hope it is as helpful for you as it has been for me.
Anyhow, I will be impatiently, patiently waiting for the seminar on June 28th and will be putting my call into Dr. Shimer's office on June 29th to get the ball rolling. Between now and then, I am going to check out the local support groups and I plan on calling my insurance company to find out what they will require. I'm gonna' make sure my ducks are all in a row so this goes as smoothly as possible.
Anytime you just want to talk send me an e-mail. I check my messages several times a day. Keep your chin up and a smile in your heart. If you want this surgery, I pray that everything falls into place and that soon you will be on the road to better health!
Sincerely,
Peggy B.
Hi Kimberly, I remember the first time that I considered this surgery. My husband went to the seminar with me and afterward, he was "big time" against it for himself and me as well. Well, I let him talk me out of it, he had no co-morbids like I did, but then later on( a few years) I decided to look into it again, I am 8 months post op now and did have some problems right after surgery, but I will tell you now, that even though I had quite a few problems after I would not change my decision to go forward with it. I wouldn't think that your MS would be affected, except maybe improving your ability to get around better. Don't give up. If one doctor tells you no, then find another one. Never give up, this surgery is the 3rd best thing that ever happened to me, one and two are my husband and kids. I will keep you in my prayers. Every day I thank the good Lord that he saw fit to help me get to where I am today. Email me anytime, I would be glad to respond. My email is [email protected]
Hi Kimberly,
Welcome, I'm relatively new myself. I have had my first consult, and done a few evaluations. But now it is a waiting game. I will pray for you and if there is anything you want to know or just want to talk you can email me at [email protected]. Thinking and praying for you. Tina
