Continueing the Journy
Well im still on this journy to health and well being, its a hard road to travel, and the Band is not the only path that works,so I still have my spirit, this ordeal did not cru**** completly. It is just temporarily damaged.I had some scrambled eggs and whole wheat toast for breakfast, some chicken and green salad for lunch, and some sliced apples as a snack..we are fixing to have some more salad and chicken for supper..my sugars have been around 175 all day ,ive checked it a few times..im not gonna take the avandia anymore,it can cause liver damage ,I researched it today..my plans are to see my primary dr monday and get on insulin if nesasary and get some more test done on my liver and set up the appointment with a specialist, and also set up something with a nutritionist,do a food journal, and as soon as im healed to begin a daily excersize regimen of morning yoga/bellydance which ive done and loved in the past, and we are buying a gazelle this next weekend,so ill have that to use,I plan to also go swim several times a week,we have a local pool, posibley join water arobics,I can and will lose this weight, remember I once weighed 398,so I know I can do it,my life is no longer focused wholely on lap band, but the posibility will remain open if god wants it to happen.I want to remain active here,I will need the sopport from all of you,we are all in the same journy, regardless of being banded or not,I love you all!

Ella honey, You and I can keep each other going... I know we can... I can't get my surgery now either... maybe later, but not now... they want 6 months supervised doctors visits... and I don't even have a doc to start... going to get one, but there's a good possibility I have to move at the end of July, or lose the insurance...
So for now I'm not focusing on the surgery... We went last night to buy the Gazelle (medium version) and they're SOLD OUT everywhere... I have been sobbing for days on this PMS emotional rollercoaster until I finally decided to stop focusing on the surgery, and start focusing on being healthy NOW.
I would love to hear about your bellydance exercising? I've always been interested in it...
I'm so sorry they did not do your procedure, but the good news is that when the MO lose weight, they actually DO lose it at the liver first... so the weightloss will help at least some with your liver... and maybe later it could be done for you.

SueElla,
You're doing great, losing this on your own. I know you're disappointed at this time , considering they didn't do your surgery, but you are better off not getting this done with your liver not in perfect condition.
I 'm surprised that they didn't discover this earlier, they did do an ultrasound on it, didnt they? That's just unbelievable. Anyways, I'm glad you're not surrendering and you're not giving up.
By the way , you may want to ask your doctor if lap banding also alleviates the diabetes? I 'm not informed on LapBand at all, but I am aware of the fact that RnY completely wiped out my diabetes and my high blood pressure within a few short weeks.
At any rate, I'm wishing you all the best for your continued journey, if there's anything I can help with , informationwise, please feel free to contact me. You can also come over to the Mississippi board for questions, if you'd like, I usually bounce between the two, being a Louisianan in MS right now
Take care and don't give up. It all happens for a reason.
~Andrea~

SueElla,
I am so sorry for what has happened to you. I can imagine how you felt when you found out that the surgery hadn't been done and that your liver was enlarged. But it sounds like you have a good plan for your weight loss journey. I may have to borrow it if my insurance won't pay for my wls. No way can I afford the surgery without a little help from the good ol' boys backing me up.
Wishing you health and happiness, and keep on with what you are doing and you will succeed in the end.
Take care,
T--resa
Yes, she did have problems with her liver from the Avandia. And also if she took cholesterol medicines, her liver enzymes would go up. She had a heart attack (or two) in July 2004 and then was on the Avandia and had the liver problems. She just never seemed to recover from the heart attack and she was very noncompliant with her care. She would sneak off from home and eat even though her husband was cooking the right foods for her. She had already had two heart surgeries, a carotid endarterectomy (where she nearly died and they cut her vocal cords), then throat surgery for the vocal cords, numerous hand and eye surgeries due to diabetic complications, along with multiple toe amputations before the heart attack in July. In December, she had her right leg amputated and threw a clot several days later and finally passed away the next day. Diabetes is a horrible disease and I had my RNY to avoid what has happened to my sister and try to get healthy. I'm not diabetic yet but there are only 3 of us out of 9 children who are not diabetic. My sister was probably 100# overweight and I am larger than she was so I have to make this work.
Oh Laura, that is just so sad.I am sure you will do well and not develope the diabetis.I pray that I will somehow lost this weight and get control of my blood sugars,im doing insulin shots at bedtime now and am off the avandia....Im only 32 and thats just 2 young to let anything take away my life.
