Lap Band Patients!!!!!
Hi Nicole,
I'm almost nine months out and I had my surgery done in Baton Rouge. I've had a lot of surgeries and I didn't find this one to be too difficult. I did experience a lot of pain and discomfort, but I was able to walk, move, cough and all the things it takes to have a good recovery.
I was extremely tired for about a month. I had a problem with the low-carb, high protein drinks in the first stage, so I moved fairly quickly to mushies and soft protein. I had smoothies, sf hot chocolate, jello, pudding, eggs, sorbet and popsickles.
I took two prescription vitamins for the first couple of months. I'm still on prescription iron because of an unrelated anemia issue.
Since my lap band surgery, I've had a ton of unrelated problems involving hernias, infection and wound issues. The band has quietly behaved through all this and four surgeries. I may be facing a fifth within the month, so I haven't taken advantage of fills except my first which was a 1/2 cc fill at six weeks. At 8 months, I had lost a little over 75 pounds.
I hope this helps and if you need anything else, please let me know. I have a blog about my lap band experience and it can be accessed at the "www" button below.
Onward!
Frances
