Denied

UGHHH... I just got off the phone with Cigna... they have decided to deny my request for WLS. The lady I spoke with said she didn't have the details that the information was just posted today, and that I should hear from my Dr. with the reasons for denial in a few days. I'm hoping its some stupid reason and that we'll be able to work through the red tape to get the approval. But WHAT A LET DOWN man... I'm so disappointed right now! I won't give up hope though, I know things will work itself out in the long run. Any suggestions guys, I have Cigna POS. I have multiple co-morbities and am SO ready to get rid of all these health problems! Thanks, Kimberly

Cigna has to notify You also with the reason for their denial. You have the right to appeal this decision. Don't let their denial scare you away; they denied me, too and I fought back and won.

HI guys... just a quick update... I finally got the letter from Cigna telling me why they denied the surgery... STUPIDITY....I tell ya... pure STUPIDITY. 1. I haven't had a pyshcosocial evaluation yet 2. I need 6 months documentation of attempted weightloss and councelling with a Dr. (I had 4 months down!) Today (June 2, 2005) I got another letter in the mail from Dr. O'Connell it was a copy of my 1st appeal!!! I didn't even know they were appealing it so quickly... he listed a host of co-morbidities (that I didn't even know I HAD! lol) and explained to Cigna that putting off another 6 months to "attempt" to lose weight will only cause my illnesses to progress, it is in my best interest to have the surgery done immediately and not delay the matter until things worsen. SO now another few weeks of wondering if things will look up for me this time! Thanks Nancy for your reply... hopefully things will start rolling now! God Bless, Kimberly
