hello, my name is lisa. i live in rayville, la. i am currently obesity. i have tried the diets and diet pills. nothing seems to work . i have high blood, diabetes, asthma, back pains and sleep apdnea. it is hard for me to get insurance but i just received medicaid. if my medicaid can pay for this surgery please let me know what i can do. it is a matter of life over death. i also wanted to let you know, my weight is 415.

I am on Medicaid also and am waiting to see if I get approved. Medicaid DOES cover it though. Find a doctor that will accept it. The only one I know of is here in New Orleans. I don't know how far that is from you. E-mail me if you want more information.

Lisa, You should try to join us for the crawfish boil on May 7. We're going to have lots of people who are preop and postop. We're in New Orleans, so maybe you could set up a meeting with the doc before coming? Good luck... Hi, Lisa! I don't have medicaid but I just wanted to drop a line and wish you well. Hope everything works out for you. You can try contacting a reputable surgeon that you know performs the procedure and ask the insurance clerk if they accept Medicaid or if they know if Medicaid pays for the procedure. Thats what I did with my insurance. They did all the calling to my insurance company for me. It's great when you find someone who is willing to help you out a little and do some footwork for you. Lisa,my sister in law is from Rayville,her name is angie,anyways,im haveing gastric lap band done in new orleans the 5th of may,I have medicaid,it is paying for it,my surgoen is dr scott at tulane,he is the only dr that excepts medicaid in louisiana to do lap band,Lap band is a safe choice,there are minimal risk with the surgury and faster recovery,I know a lady that had her lap band done there and she wieghed over 600 pounds,she did great during surgury.The process is long and you have to be dedicated and do the work if you want this.the best thing is alot of research,have you went to the lap band forum and read post ,go read thru them and do some reserch.Email me and ill give you the number to dr scott SueElla
