Anyone around Fort Polk
Misty:
Just saw your post. Dr. Shapiro did my surgery on 2/14/05. He's the only one who does it, so the waiting list is pretty long. Have you been to any of the support group meetings at BJACH? Our next support group is Tuesday, May 10 in Classroom 1 on the first floor of the hospital. The meeting is at 7 pm, but we usually start gathering about 6:30. You can get a lot of questions answered there.

I had a consult with Dr. Shapiro and I did not like him at all. I opted to be referred out and I had a great Dr. I have thought about the support group but I was unsure when they where. I will try and make the one in May. So how have you done with your WLS? Any problems? I hope to talk to you soon. Bye, Misty
Dr. Shapiro grows on you. He's an excellent surgeon. I didn't know they referred out for RNY. I know a few who were referred out for lap bands, but not RNY. I had a hard enough time on the 20-mile drive home from BJACH, don't know how I would've handled that 2-hour drive home from Shreveport (espescially once we got on Hwy 117 in Vernon Parish-lol). I have lost 44 pounds so far. Some times I think it's going too slow, but then I think when was the last time I lost this much weight so quickly. If you're ever in the commissary, stop by the deli and say hi. We can compare surgeries.
