Greetings from Florida!! Hi all, My family and I are thinking of having our vacation this year in New Orleans. We have never been there. I was wondering if the experts out there could help me.... how is it there the 1st week of September? Are there a lot of people visiting then? What is the weather like? Does anyone know the Hotel de L'eau Vive on Tchoupitoulas St? Is it nice? Thanks SO MUCH for the help! Laura Lap RNY 12/14/04 -85 lbs

I was born and raised here, even lived in the quarter for a while.... I wish I could tell you about the hotel, but it's one I never heard of (maybe they just changed names?) What I can tell you is to check out nola.com and to talk to your travel agent to see what conventions will be in town (September is about the right time for MASSIVE influx of people with conventions). If you have any other questions, feel free to ask... as for the weather in September... I have only one word... SWEATY!!! Be prepared for LOTS of sun, heat, and humidity (temps around 90's but often said it feels like much more due to the humidity). If you do come, there are several "must see" sights... feel free to email for info.

............dont forget, september's also hurricane season, that may add to the congestion -- make sure to find out about cancellation fees in case you can't go because of the weather .... ~Andrea~

Yes! It was last September that we fled from the Hurricane and spend a few days in Austin, TX. If one has to leave their home over weather, might as well go on vacation as you're spending the money anyway!

Hi Laura I think their is a Festival in the French Quarter the first weekend of September. I could be wrong. However, this is one festival you do not want your children to see if you have them. It may also make you feel uncomfortable too. It's not a family festival. I'll stop there! I suggest you try the New Orleans Chamber of Commerce. Just key that into Google. I would think you can get a calendar of events there. Or key in New Orleans Calendar of Events 2005. Hurricane season isn't over until November or is it December 1st. It's still hot in New Orleans in September also. October can be pretty warm. November is cooler. Also, I'm not sure what kind of events you're looking for so it's difficult to recommend a place to stay. If you have more questions, e-mail me and I'll see what I can find out for you! Best Regards, ~Vanessa
