Wake up call!!!
Hi Kat,
Happy Belated Birthday. You might think this little story is kinda cute. I drive carpool for my son who attends Brother Martin. There are 6 boys in our carpool. My fiance' has been doing the majority of the driving (which is one trip there and one trip back) each week. Anyway, the boys are so sleepy in the AM they never notice a thing.
This past week I was picking up 4 of them (my son wasn't among them) after track practice to deliver them to their respective homes. I arrived at the school a few minutes early and saw 2 of our carpool boys walking back from the local concession stand by the school. I waved to get their attention so that they knew I was there for pick up.
The boys didn't come to the van once I parked. But, that's not unusual since we were waiting for 2 more passengers. They like to hang out until everyone is ready. No problem. I kep****ching them but they didn't even bring their bookbags to the van to load up. This went on for almost 20 minutes. Then, the 2 boys went inside the school. This was getting aggravating at this point. I called my son on his cell phone and asked him to call one of the boys and find out what the hold up is and whether they were going home with me. Didn't know if there was some schedule change or meeting I wasn't told about. You never know with these kids. Anyway, my son called one of the boys and told them I was waiting and to get over to me to let me know what was up.
That's when we discovered the boys didn't recognize me. Along with the 100 lbs I have lost (officially--as of TODAY), I lightened my hair a little and now have been flat-ironing it to get it straight (The curly hair you see in my picture is all natural--so this style is a lot more work). One of the boys that didn't recognize me has been living across the street from my parents for the last 10 years and is very good friends with my son. He said, "Miss Rhonda, I didn't know that was you. We were wondering who the lady was that waved then just kept starring at us."
There I was in my size 6 jeans/medium top, straight hair, looking (I hope) much healthier, happier and younger (maybe). When I picked my daughter up from Chapelle the other day, one of her friends told another friend that "her Mom is so pretty." I hope it isn't too vain to say, but I really enjoyed those compliments and hope my kids aren't embarrassed anymore now that I am no longer morbidly obese. Can't wait until the ex-husband gets to see me--will definitely have a story on that one. I now weigh what I weighed when we met. One of the reasons he fooled around on me was due to the weight I gained during my first pregnancy with my son (had my daughter 16 months later, then a set of twins) Gosh who wouldn't have a weight issue with 4 kids in 6.5 years.
Hope my story wasn't too long and silly but it certainly brought a smile to my face. Look forward to seeing you on the 7th. BTW, I just joined the East Jefferson YMCA on Riverside Drive. They have trainer there you can hire as well as nutritional consultants, etc. I know you were looking for something regarding this. I can also take you over to Cureton's to see if that will meet your needs. I promise to email my phone numbers. Talk to you soon.

THE CENTURY CLUB ON 4/7/05--my 9 month anniversary.
I had my appointment yesterday. And I lost over 10 pounds from my last visit was a month before then. Plus I don't need any more vitamin B-12 shots. And I don't have to see him until June. He is very proud of me and my weight lost and wants me to cut down the carbs intake. Easier said then done. But I'll do it.
SO I am very happy about that. Weight is coming off. Now I have to work on bills coming off and stress coming off.
And money coming my way
How is the new house coming along?
Talk to you soon
