..Hi everybody...my name is Carrie, I am 10 months post op 120 pounds down, and moving to the mandeville area....I currently live in south florida and LOVE my surgeon and support group....just wondering, if their are any support groups in the area....looking to find a good one, and make some new friends....anyone have any answers, please let me know...thanks so much....Carrie
Welcome Carrie!! I'm new to the OH boards and to the surgery investigation, so I can't tell you much about groups here yet.... but I can tell you that it's great to have another come to town
When you're ready to come to New Orleans and take a weekend of fun, email me, I'd be happy to keep you company.
Welcome aboard Carrie!!
I live in the Northern part of the state , but my surgeon is in New Orleans. I am not familiar with any support groups, but I 'm sure there are some... Hope you get "hooked up". There are some REALLY nice people on this message board, and we are always glad to have "newbies". Sounds like you have done GREAT since your surgery. 120 lbs. is SUPER. I am 6 months out and have lost 80 lbs. I am a pretty happy camper!!
Post often and let us know how you are!!! Pam
Hi Carrie
We live in Mandeville! You are going to LOVE it here! I told my husband to bury me in our backyard!
There is a support group organized by my doctor, Thomas Lavin and his partners. I think the name of the group is Southern Bariatrics...gosh..I don't know the name of the group! LOL Well, you can go to the website at whyweight.com (don't forget the www. in front). Their support group meeting I beleive is the third Thursday of every month beginning at 6:00PM. Please check me on that though. I'm sure it's up on their website.
Also, please contact me when you will be here! I'll give you my phone number so that you can have an immediate contact. Why are you moving, when will you be here, and do you know where in Mandeville you will be residing?
Looking forward to hearing from you,
~Vanessa
Hi Carrie,
Welcome to da Bayou!
I'm in Baton Rouge, an hour away from the Mandeville area, but I know you are going to love the people and places there. I have friends and associates who live in Mandeville.
We are an hour out, but we have members who travel a good bit for our support group. NooMee! meets every first Thursday of the month and they just opened it up to non-patients of the Mimimally Invasive Surgery Institute.
We are walking in an upcoming walkathon at LSU on April 30 to benefit the March of Dimes. It's going to be a real community/festival atmosphere and we would be glad to have you as a visitor or a walker. NooMee's on the Web at noomee.com and the practice is at misila.org.
There's some cool folks on this board and in the greater New Orleans area. I know you will find lots of good friends with like interests.
My best to you in your journey.
Frances
