I Have A Question....
Hi everybody! I have a question I hope someone can answer. I am 4 months post op and since yesterday, I have felt a large lump in my pouch. I am not in any earth shattering pain; but when I eat it does feel different going down. Is it a hernia? I know that if I feel worse before Monday I will go to the ER. I guess I'm just curious at this point. Can anyone help??
Susan
I've never had a hernia, but what you are describing sounds more like something is stuck or you may be developing a stricture. As long as you can get SOME food and liquid down and are not in pain, running fever, etc. I would not be toooooo concerned, but I would check with my doctor as soon as possible. He may want you to come in for a scope (not painful, they usually sedate you for that). Let me know what happens..... Pam
Hi Pam!
I went to my surgeon today and he thinks I am developing a small hernia. He scheduled me for a cat scan on Wednesday. I guess I'll know more after that. Thanks for responding. The first month after my surgery was terrible; I was in and out of the hospital. The last couple of months have been wonderful so I was surprised when I started hurting and felt that lump in my belly.
Take care!
Susan
SUSAN, I AGREE WITH THE OTHERS, BUT I STRONGLY URGE YOU TO GO TO THE E.R. OR TO CALL YOU DOCTOR!!!!!! IT MAY BE NOTHING, AND AGAIN IT MAY BE VERY SERIOUS......THIS SURGERY CAN DO SO MANY THINGS TO US AFTER WE HAVE IT, AND 4 MONTHS IS NOT A LONG TIME OUT!
PLEASE PLEASE GET IT CHECKED ASAP......AND PLEASE LET US KNOW!!!!!
I AM HERE IF YOU NEED ME!
I HOPE THE VERY BEST FOR YOU!!!!!
TAKE CARE AND GOD BLESS
MUCH LOVE AND HUGS,
KIM
Thank you Kim for your post. I ended up waiting until Monday and called my Dr. first thing in the morning. He had me come in and pressed down on my poor belly until it was numb!! He also thinks it is the start of a small hernia and to make sure I will be getting a cat scan on Wed. I have to tell you, your's was one of the first profiles I read before my surgery and what an inspiration! You worked hard, had setbacks with your health, but the payoff is a much healthier and probably happier you!! You did it!!!
Susan
Kim,you look awesome!!!!!!!! I hope you win the finals!
This may be too personal and I will understand if you don't want to answer (you can also email me ([email protected]) but did you have any plastic surgery since your WLS? If so, who did it and where?
Thanks!
Vanessa
