Hi everyone
Hi ya'll.I've been reading at the other sight. It's good to find people from LA to talk to.I'm in the process of trying to get my surg approved. However my husbands ins. that I'm covered under has decided that as of Jan.1 that WLS would not be covered for any reason. That was while I was doing my 6 months supervised diet.Ya'll know the drill. Was in month 5 ain't that about right.I have previously had stomach stapled 10 years ago and now am going for RNY.Well any way had EGD done about 10 days ago for GERD,showed esophagitis, gastritis with erosions and gastric outlet obstruction.Dr Merriman submitted really killer letter stating problems and recommended treatment--subtotal gastrectomy with RNY reconstruction--YAY!!! I'm impatiently waiting on the ins. company's response.Ya'll jus pray with me about this ,PULEEZE!!! I am desperate to have this surg and will one way or the other.
Hi Leslie,
Welcome to this board and always know that you are not alone in your journey for a long, healthy life. Someone once said anything worth having is worth fighting for.
If I could find this person, I would pop them in the mug ..... but they are right.
It's very hard having to fight adversities that the rest of the world doesn't experience and so they don't seem to understand.
We have to keep pressure on the insurance companies and the public's perception. If there's anything we can do to help, please let us know.
Hope to see more of you here.
Frances

Well this is an update. My Dr. just got denial of surgery due to saying that the problem of GERD was result of VBG 10 years ago and they now have exclusion for treament of any complications resulting from WLS as well as the surgery itself.I don't see how that is possible. Guess that means that if at some later date if I develope esophageal CA,strictures.hemorrhages, stomach ulcers that start bleeding ect. they will deny coverage of any tx. due to the fact that they say it is a complication from earlier surg. Well have appointment for consultation with attorney on Wednesday. Please pray with me about this situation.
