I am a 22 year old caucasian male. Lately I have been having problems with heart palpitations, lightheadedness, shortness of breath, and chest pains after eating. I've also noticed something funny happening with my eyes. I've been to two different doctors about this. The first doctor diagnosed me with anxiety disorder and placed me on Buspar and Klonopin, then Buspar and Ativan. After months of this not working i changed doctors. The new doctor diagnosed me with GERD. I have done a 14 day treatment cycle with Prilosec. The chest pains are almost all gone, but I still get lightheaded and have palpitations and shortness of breath sometimes during or after meals. Any insight into this situation would be greatly appreciated seeing as how my doctors can't provide any. Thank you.

I changed doctors so many times I can't even remember how many. It took SIX YEARS to get my fibromyalgia and osteoarthritis diagnosed. Since I am obese, every doctor I went to just told me to lose weight and all would be just fine. I kept trying to tell them that while my weight might make my symptoms worse, I knew there was something else wrong with me. It took six years before I found a doctor who would do blood tests, x-rays and MRIs. Six years. I have a couple of doctors now who LISTEN TO ME and understand that I might have a clue as to what's going on with my body. But it took a lot of switching doctors. The best of luck to you. I know how frustrating it can be. I have had that same light-headedness, palpitations and shortness of breath during and after meals. And the something funny with the eyes too. It feels like there is pressure behind my eyes and there will be some blackness on the outer line of my vision. I don't know what causes that. I probably need to mention that to my new doctor. I haven't had it happen in a while. I know you feel like giving up. That's the way I felt too. But there are some good doctors out there. Not many though. I could tell you some horror stories about some of them. I hope you find a wonderful doctor who didn't sleep through med school. Joni
