Hi Colleen, I live in Baton Rouge and I used to manage/edit the Web site of the local newspaper. I recently left the newspaper business, but I'm still active as a free-lance writer and Web developer. We live in the little town near the airport, Baker. I lived inside the city, before this summer, for 10 years. The Advocate's Web site: http://www.2theadvocate.com Chamber of Commerce: http://www.brchamber.org/ There's a school listing and newcomers guide at the Chamber site and a "Who we are and where we live" guide on The Advocate site. The public schools are trying real hard, but struggling quite a bit. Two new districts have recently been carved out of the East Baton Rouge Parish district. I live in one of those new districts. Zachary, the other new EBR district is in a small town noted as having the highest rate of growth among small towns in the state. There's a ton of private schools in this market. The school districts in the surrounding parishes are having some noted growth. If you have some specific questions, I would be glad to share more. I have a Web site/weight loss journal: http://www.francesspencer.blogspot.com I hope this helps, Frances

Do you know what part of Baton Rouge you are going to be moving too? This makes a difference in the schools. If you know the area we can give you a better idea of the schools, shopping, etc. Dee
