Do you know for sure that your new coverage doesn't exclude Bariatric surgery? With United Healthcare, they will usually tell you 4 - 6 weeks for a determination, after they recieve the request. If I were you, I would call the customer service department and make sure they have recieved the letter of medical necessity, because they are notorious for giving out the wrong fax number to doctors offices. Then they can just say they never recieved it. Keep up with them, it's always good to follow up, and that is something you can do yourself. Best of luck to you.
