surgery has made my life a living hell

I had the roux n y on may 18 2004 ...have lost 127 lbs but can not eat most time...the entrance to my little puch continues to close i have to go about every 2 weeks and have it stretched ....my protein level is so low ...badddddd...ive lost my hair and i am so weak i fall at least once a week.. i can get shakes down until it closes all the way ...feel nauseated 90% of time ...have been in hospital 7 times for iv feedings...when i ask my doctor why it continues to close he says he doesnt know.....i want the surgery reversed ..has anyone every heard of this or a doctor that would consider it. losing weight isnt worth what ive been thru ....i have no life ...i cant even lift my grandbaby im so weak ....plz someone help ...

Bless your heart!! I am sooooo sorry to hear this. Dr. Louis Martin (my surgeon) is in New Orleans, LA and he has reversed a couple of procedures. I recommend that you contact him. He is VERY experienced with this type of surgery and I feel sure that he would be willing to talk to you. He is at St. Charles General Hospital at the Weight Loss Management Center.

I had the DS surgery on 7/7/04. You may want to look into revision to the DS. There are far less side effects since there is no "pouch" as in RNY. My surgeon is Dr. Clark Warden with Surgical Specialists of Louisiana (504) 934-3000. I'm sure they would be worth speaking to about your particular situation. Also, I have Medicare as my primary and my surgery was covered. Hasn't a feeding tube been considered for you since you have so much trouble with strictures and closings? I had to have a feeding tube in for about 3-4 months until I was straightened out. This sure saved me from a lot of pain and trips to the hospital for rehyrdration and nutrition. Now that things are straightening out I no longer have a feedig tube (removed Nov. 22). I actually kept it longer than I needed because I was so afraid of being so sick again. It was more of a security blanket than necessary for aobut half of the time. If you are having so much trouble with getting fluids and nutrition, I would think your doctor would have had one put in by now. Please check into it. I hope you feel better soon.
