It looks like as of right now, I will have gastric bypass done on Dec 29. I am nervous about having surgery, but I really am looking forward to be a skinnier me. I went to day and met with the male Dr. Barns today. Everyone is really nice and didn't treat me as a parasite because I am very over weight. I think that the two things that I really am afraid of is throwing up and severe pain. If those two can be controlled, then everything will be peachy for me.

Please check into the DS surgery since one of your big fears is throwing up. You definitely want to consider DS since there is no dumping syndrome that is associated with mostly RNYs. The post-op life is so much more normal than the other types of WLS. Melissa Mermaid's profile has a lot of great information on DS (duodenal switch) as well as Diana Cox. Good luck in your journey. Hi Rebecca and welcome, congratulations on your up coming surgery. I know you will LOVE Dr. James Barnes. I had his wife Dr Stephanie Barnes. The nice thing about them is that you get them both. They assist each other during surgeries so it's like a "two for one" special! I had my 6 month check up today and I have to say, I have had nothing but the best results from my surgery. If you stick to their after care program/diet you will have no problems either. They are the best Dr.s I have ever come across and recommend them to any and everyone considering this surgery. I won't lie, you will have pain, but then you will have just gone thru MAJOR surgery. You will get Lortab Elixor that will help you thru those rough times. If you want to talk to me about the surgery please email me. I will be happy to answer any questions you may have. Oh yea....their staff (receptionist and nurse) also had this surgery and are very eager to help you in anyway they can. Please feel free to call them anytime. They are the BEST!!!

Well my husband's employer just changed insurance companies and now I have Blue Cross of Louisiana. I won't be having the surgery after all. I did sign the class action thingy posted on this website and I contacted my insurance commisioner's office about what to do. They said that there is something in the works but its not law yet, to also contact the lawmakers, so I have, lol. They have messed with the wrong girl. Hope something changes soon, I am tired of being so fat.
